Teacher I would just request a check. I believe your ID must match the information Bovada will eventually provide WU.

This is def a question for bovada customer service. They're usually pretty awesome at responding to questions like this quickly.

Got my $3k check yesterday (well, I wasnt' home, so fedex re-delivered today). (req & approved Feb 23)

Canadian bank with a US Affiliate bank.

Sticking it in an ATM tomorrow, we'll see what happens I guess. Really tempted to just go try Wal-mart

Any info is greatly appreciated.
You should be fine as long as the agent you pickup from is OK with an ID and not checking the address on it. I wouldn't mess with it on the Bovada end as it might result in not getting the WU processed.

First off, thanks to all of the people who take the time to post and reply in this thread. I am certain the time and effort is appreciated.

With that stated, I have a question about a payout and would appreciate some advice.

My mother cashed out about 3-4 weeks ago and just got the check 2 days ago. The check is for a little under $3,000. The check is from North America, although I'm not sure how to tell whether the routing number is American or not.

She has a checking account with a large, nationally-prominent bank, and I am wondering if she should just deposit it in her ATM (as suggested)? Or should she try to go inside the bank and see if the teller will cash it for her on the spot and give her the money immediately?

I was of the impression that taking the check inside the bank and dealing with a teller might be a potentially bad idea, and that it may cause some unnecessary delays in the check clearing. After reading some of the recent posts in this thread, though, and learning of some people being able to get the cash immediately, I am wondering if this is now a safe idea?

With a check of a little over $2,900, does anyone have an idea of how long it would likely take to clear and be available in her account IF deposited through the ATM? Possibly overnight? Is 2-3 days realistic?

She would definitely like to get the money today, if possible; but I don't want her to potentially delay the process by taking the check inside to the teller, if a delay is likely to occur by dealing with an actual bank employee, rather than just using the ATM to deposit it.

Any advice or suggestions about getting this check cashed safely and quickly would really be appreciated. By the way, she and her bank are on the west coast, in Ca.

If anyone would like to PM me about this, please feel free to. Otherwise, I will be checking back in this thread frequently. Thanks!

^^^ Deposit it into your account and wait for it to clear. Most checks clear in a few days depending on what bank you use.

Thanks for the response. When you say "a few days," do you mean 2-3 days? Is that likely/realistic? Or more like 5-7 days? or more?

Also, why would you suggest to NOT try to get it cashed inside with a teller immediately?

I replied to your PM. It has more details for you. The reason I would just deposit it is because the check is from Canada and most banks won't just cash it.

Does anybody know if there is a way to switch your withdrawal method to WU without depositing 5 times? I would prefer not to deal with checks anymore in the future.

According to support in order to use WU cashouts:

a. WU deposits must outnumber CC deposits.
or
b. your last 5 deposits must be WU.

In my situation CC deposits are over 5 so I must make 5 WU deposits? This will take 3 weeks since only 2 WU deposits are allowed every 7 days. Also it will cost me $1500 since I don't want to pay fees (WU fees covered for $300 & over).

Is there any way around this silly 5 deposit rule? I would rather deposit $1,500 in one shot than go visit WU 2x a week.

I intend to drop it in my bank's ATM asap.

It is a check from an Asian country. There is no indication on the back that I am to endorse it (as is customary with U.S. checks).

Has anyone encountered this and, if so, did you sign the check on the back or not?
Ive gotten checks from there. Sign it where you normally would or your bank probably will not take it. If they see no place for a signature they might get suspicious and start asking questions.

Also Az, instruct your mother to deposit her next check asap. Waiting a few days to cash it is a bad move. Dump it into the ATM immediately.

So frustrating that I can't cash out via check. I deposited by WU and now I can only withdraw WU. I initally deposited with CC like 6 years ago and have received checks, but last one was 2009. Went to cash out via check and they just auto-cashed it to MPL.

Been waiting a week now for support to respond if they can let me cash out via check.

I have to pay 8-9% fees for every cashout. sucks

They're not going to just give her $2900 on the spot for a piece of paper. Just deposit it and wait a couple days for it to clear.

Is the wait time for checks getting longer on Bovada? It had almost been 15 business days for me. Before checks were coming much quicker.

I am little concerned because of what happened with Full Tilt.

Lately I've been playing at True Poker. The action has been growing quickly in the last 2-3 months. About 2 months ago I cashed out of True Poker and the check came in about a week. The software is MUCH BETTER than Bodava's. It doesn't hide full tables, one of the most stupid changes Bodog ever made. Also players are not anonymous, and PokerTracker supports the site.

Reading through this thread I quickly understand that checks are the best method to withdraw on bovada. I think I remember reading that your initial deposit has something to do with your withdrawal method. Can anyone elaborate on this? For instance, if my first deposit is via Visa check card, then this is the method they will attempt to withdraw to. But if your bank doesnt accept deposits (withdrawal's, depending on who's point of view you're looking at) then you're kinda in limbo for awhile and have to fax them copies of your drivers license and all this garbage.

Therefore, what is the best method for your first initial deposit so you dont have to go through a bunch of shenanigans to begin withdrawing in the future?

If you use a card, it will be a check payout.
