It’s like Neeme says in all his hand analysis “Could be good, could be bad... I don’t know”

Really covers all your bases

And u seem to be in the minority on the Lon issue. He is really bad. Just listen to the PonerGo coverage, or the twitch streams. The other play by play are much better. It is clear Lon does not have a deep uunderstanding of the game. Lon provides nothing to the action and just states really obvious things like he is providing ground breaking insight.
I never said Lon was good. I said the bashing is getting old. If people are jumping on the “let’s bash Lon” bandwagon so much that they’re nitpicking his emphasis on certain words, that’s a bit much. No, he’s not the greatest and he certainly doesn’t have a profound knowledge on the finer aspects of poker. But do we have to point out every little issue even down to the emphasis he used on the word “million?” We get it. People don’t like him. Move on.

It's kind of a joke that Ivey isn't on the featured table - he doesn't have to say a word to be more entertaining than Antonio Esfandiari.

U just admitted he isn’t the greatest and doesn’t have profound knowledge. Yet he is the play by play on the freaking World Championship. That’s the issue. What other sport/game has someone commentating on its biggest event that has only a basic knowledge? It doesn’t happen. Most play by play guys are not ‘atheletes or even play the sport’, but they all have far more than basic knowledge of the game.

It’s an insult to the game honestly. Poker has come too far to allow this **** to continue IMO

Joe Buck has been lead announcer on the past 4 U.S. Opens for Fox. the difference is he has worked hard to improve himself / knowledge of the game of golf. Lon ... not so much.

It is perfectly understandable that a discussion forum on a poker site is going to receive comments on the broadcasters of poker's flagship event.

Especially if the lead announcer (the play-by-play announcer) makes so many mistakes calling the play and announces in a way that exhibits a very shallow understanding of the game.

Having said that, and I am as guilty as anyone, maybe we can limit our Lon bashing. After all, the tournament lasts another week or so and there will likely be plenty more "opportunities" to comment on the announcers.

2017 - Benjamin Pollak, Damian Salas, Dan Ott

Some have healthy stacks. Some are really short.

Funny that 2007 is not represented. Gotta be the weakest ME final table group of the past 15 years. Seems fitting that they're the only ones not to yield a deep run this year.

Which was the strongest main event final table? That would be an interesting debate. 2010 had Duhamel, Grinder, Racener, and Cheong. That's a whole lot of career earnings on one table.

Mildly interesting part two: Allen Cunningham has cashed in the main event in 7 of the last 11 years, and in 2006 he finished 4th. Judging from his Hendon Mob, he doesn't play much poker anymore, but he should totally get in on that sweet 1.8 markup like Phil Hellmuth.
I thought Kelly Kim passed away a number of years ago, might be a different one if my memory is correct.

My gosh, so much hostility ITT regarding the TV coverage. Have you guys been around long enough to remember when the ONLY coverage we got on TV was months after the Main Event had ended, in the 2-hour edited post-production shows? At least we can show some appreciation that ESPN has given us live coverage. Is it perfect? Is that really the right question?
