When someone begins their poker career, they're all given a "one time" by the poker gods. This allows them to be guaranteed to hit their outs and win the hand one time. Unfortunately people forget that they use this up about 10 seconds after starting to play cards and constantly refer to it, hoping they will regain that magic again.

^^^ Nah, it's like VIP status ... it resets monthly. But when the DOJ seized accounts they took possession of all unused 'one times'. That's actually what BF was all about. They didn't want the cash ... now they have millions of times.

You can use "one time" more than once, but once whatever you are asking for actually happens, you can't use "one time" anymore, since you'd really be asking for "another time."

And even if someone had never said "one time," if they win a major event like the WSOP Main Event, I think they are disqualified from using a "one time," since they really already had their unspoken request granted.

legend has it that one time, a dude said it, and then a couple other dudes heard it, thought it made sense and kept saying it, and then some more dudes did the same, etc.

Term's been around forever. I've heard it at Commerce and Bicycle Casino since i started playing in the 90's.

First time I heard it on TV, though, was Vinny Vinh on the World Poker tour, I think like season 2.

Not sure what you're correcting. I could be wrong, but thought Gobbo was married? And I feel he is good at poker, yes.

Yes, that was probably wat made it popular among the masses.

People should've picked up on the fact, though, that if you choose to use that horrid exclamation, you will be punished by the poker gods, as is proven in the above video.

First sir, Let me agree with you how ridiculous it was for me not to assume that somebody would marry that guy. Secondly, allow me to disagree, as you see after a 30 day event known as the WSOP the only thing it seems Jimmy Fricke is actually "GOOD" at is taking chips off tourists day one and then trying to win a 4 day tourney on day 2 53 times in a row. Finally, I'll GTFO when someone throws me out and not before so STFU!!!
