It makes perfect sense really, right? I mean, the U.S. was desperately in need of some cash....

I'd assume the cash isn't ring fenced - so the US DOJ taking action to charge them/levy a huge fine perhpas could endanger deposits perhaps? But to doubt that the cash is even there in the first place - I think you're being naive there. These are/were highly profitable businesses - they don't have any need to run a ponzi scheme on the side - they make more than enough quite openly from the rake.
The cash in a Pokerstars account is stored in a bank account - not a US one.

Well this certainly ruins the day.

I'm curious as to how the DOJ feels that by crippling the income (and current savings) of one of the least affected (by recession) demographics is a good idea for a sustainable recovery.

Unfortunately it looks like this is a way for the government to stick it to stars and FT plus chance at a big payday amid budget cuts. I'm sure legalization of the industry will happen but its likely to start with IParty poker as their the only ones who have listened to the government.

Overall, I agree with some of the sentiment that this is a terrible political move for all involved as now there will be a large group of potential voters against them.

Sry if I repeated anything previously said its obviously impossible to keep up with the pace of this thread.

I'm in the UK, and I cannot withdraw my funds.
I get a message saying"unable to establish a secure connection to server"
Hopefully it is because there are so many people trying to cash out at once, and I will have better luck tomorrow.

If it says that my "withdrawal transaction has been approved", does that mean that i'll receive my cash within 5-10days regardless of what happens to Full Tilt?
