Burning $100 sounds like a negative freeroll to me. You should probably avoid those if you want to play poker.

Or you could take 100$ out of your wallet, give it to charity, have the same end result of -100$ but instead of being a tool you actually helped people who are in need.

I definitely disagree with this statement.
I've already thrown away hundreds of dollars drawing dead when I was super tilted so I guess I'm sort of detached from my money but burning a $100 bill would be a real pain to me.

I don't agree that's what he meant. That sounds more like a bankroll management perspective. He is talking indifference about money. Even if you can afford it but it pains you to burn it, you shouldn't play poker. You need to not care about it (in his view).

If you need it to live, then you haven't built up a big enough separate poker bankroll, and that's not what he's talking about.
