Ontarios massive debt (approx $500B for 14M citizens) has contributed to meddling in the online poker egosystem. I was a level 150 888 player, then the province set the jurisdiction rules and the entire poker player pool is decimated. There is now no reason to play online if I am only able to play against the small number of other players from Ontario.

Now only does Ontario (OLG) hurt themselves by allowing the expansion and promotion of private casino operators for slots, table games etc that take away from live play (and OLG online themselves) but they have live poker games available in only select casinos. Fewer and fewer by the year.

There is a reason I've heard more than once that "dreams go to die in Ontario". We could probably apply this quote more broadly to Canada.

Why do you not want to play against the small number of players from ontario. You do realize on average these people are worse at poker right. Live poker is definitely dogshit but for casual players it is a net positive. The only argument against it is you cant win huge 10k field mtts anymore for huge figures but even wsop.ca is doing tourneys with that amount of money by doing like 14 flights.

Get off 888 ontario its the smallest site

I just dont understand why ontario recs are all mad they dont have to pay for ivans salary anymore. Acr is much harder and riskier then all these ont sites

I was saying this since they announced that Ontario will be fenced. 99% of people complaining about it are loosing mtt recs who are sad they can't hit that big lottery payout anymore. And 1% hs regs who can't play 1k+ anymore. Any low-mid stakes **** reg like me just gained infinite EV from not having to compete with Ivans for a seat with a rec. Long live Ontario Igaming.

50nl-100nl is an absolute joke now. literally like poker boom levels of bad plays. At any given 6max table I have like 3-4 players tagged as fish.

I might deposit more and just grind 200nl for some decent side income although I hear its a bit more reg heavy.

ya im just 18 tabling and winning with almost 0 holdem cash background its not hard altho honesty not as many fish as I expected from my mtt playing experience. I haven't made the jump to nl200 myself because its usually the highest stake running so like you said way more reg heavy. Rather just load up more nl100 tables and make more then most nl200 grinders.

Never been a fan of playing players better then me

Obviously, the more players the better as I prefer full tables and more options.

In terms of live poker, what is the best casino to play at today? The last place I played was Casino Rama $2/5 NL. I saw they moved the poker room out to the floor, which feels odd to me though I didn't sit for a game. I heard Heron Casino in Port Perry no longer carries poker, though I haven't been there in years to confirm.

Not sure if this was directed at me for my previous questions regarding ACR but personally, I'm not a pro. I've made a decent amount of money playing large field MTTs and I simply prefer them because they are exciting to me.

If anyone has any insight into playing on ACR from Ontario nowadays, that'd be great! Like, would we even be able to cash out if we wanted to?

I thought it was going to suck at first but I've made as much money in MTTs in the past 6 months as I made in the 6 years before regulation. The scheduling and lack of selection is disappointing but I prefer the reduced variance and more frequent cashes. Not sure it will be as good when they start scaling back the guarantees though.

The undoubted best place to play is Casino Niagara. Reasonable, timed rake in a tourist town.

Other than Niagara, most of Ontario is a live hellscape. Brantford and Rama are 10% $15 cap, and Toronto has no legal rooms. The CNE casino is spread limit, but is soft during the couple months a year it is open.

Yeah this is too true. I was so against it as a microstakes cash grinder, but seeing how soft it is, it is basically free money.

I've been playing 200nl and it's the same at times, I've had multiple 5-rec tables up recently...it was getting a little bit reg-heavy near the end of the summer but the cooler weather seems to increased traffic/have seen lots of SN's I've never seen before

Obviously 200nl can get reg-heavy, just have to pick your spots/see what the pools look like at different times

Probably a long shot, but are there any sites that track low stakes cash game results on GG?

Is there any political opposition to the regulation or plans to open up again in the future? Horrible for online poker in Ontario as far as I'm concerned.

Not back to the international pool.

I've heard the long term goal is to have all of Canada as the player pool.

Game selection is definitely not great but I play PLO and the competition is pretty bad. I was originally against it but my winrates are up even if the table selection is down.

I live in Ontario and I'm thinking about jumping back into grinding 50/100nl online. It's been a while though, haven't played much since before the regulations. Which sites should I be looking at? Are there Ontario only sites? Or is stars the only game in town?

I've never played on 888. WTF is a "level 150" player?

For those that primarily play on 888, MGM or WSOP.

Why do you play on those sites over PokerStars? I’ve given 888 and WSOP a shot, I find the games move so slow and the payouts take forever to get approved compered to PokerStars.

Other than deposit bonuses or “more fish” answers, why?

That's what you take from my post? Nothing about the $600B massive debt, far more than California and the meddling in the lives of citizens here?

Leave your political babble on 888 Level 150. I come to read about poker, not about your political views.

Party cash games > all other sites IMO lowest rake + best rakeback + quick cashouts + lots of games
