Are you on a Mac by chance? I think it's the Mac software that's messed up. Since upgrade, I can't play either because it doesn't think I'm in Ontario. This happened right at launch to me too, and a software update fixed it. I've also opened a ticket with support and followed up with them today, and they say they are still looking into it.

Yes, Mac. All was fine until the most recent software update.

And I also got a note from support this morning, with a similar statement.

When I looked, this evening, at the PLO tables that I've been playing I could see that there were several regs missing, so I suspect that there are others also experiencing this problem. Perhaps all Mac users??

It's probably good for me to take a few days off ...

Are the people at Pokerstars complete morons who don't understand time zones? WTF is the Bounty Builder Series running tourneys starting at 10pm?

If they’re making $ on it, don’t you think they’d run it regardless of how you feel about it?
You know there are people alive that stay up most or all of the night, right?

Lol, it's not about my "feelings" it's about catering to their small customer base. Do you really think the majority of their customers in Ontario prefer to start tournaments at 10pm?

Maybe you haven't been around long enough to remember the schedule before US players got the boot and sites had to shift their schedules to cater to the overseas customers.

No, but it isn’t about the majority and that’s exactly my point.
It’s about it being profitable for them to run a 10pm tourney. It’s really as simple as that.
I’ve been around longer than you I would suspect.
A 10pm tourney is exactly catering to a certain subsection of their players and I’m confused how you fail to see that.

No news at my end, over the last two days. Have you heard anything?

You do realize that catering to a larger number of players is more profitable for them, don't you?

By doing things like running tournaments late in the evening?
Yes, yes I do understand that.

Keep in mind this whole transition is like 2 months old and there’s going to be some tweaks on their end to figure out what works best for them and the players.

But the simple fact remains, they are running a 10pm tourney because they are confident they won’t go into overlay.

No, nothing. I'm guessing we probably won't see anything until Tuesday at at the earliest. I ended up depositing on Party Poker while I wait. I can't wait till stars fixes their Mac software. I can't stand Party's software.

Hey dude, been a long time lurker of this thread and loved following your journey along with hearing your insights. We’ve been battling recently in the ON pools and you definitely make these soft games much less soft!

Sorry for the suckouts on you yesterday in the $500. I agree with you and I think some of my plays were prob bad and unfortunately you ran into bad variance aka me sun running. I’m sure you’ll get me back soon though . See you in the ON streets.

Does anyone have a list of all the sites (and best sites) that we have available to play right now? Both in the ontario pool but also the sites we can still play on the global pool?

Here it is Friday and still no follow up since receiving the PS Support email on Sept. 2 saying "We'll work on fixing this issue as soon as possible. Our main priority is ensuring the best possible experience for all our players."

What about you?

I agree with you re Party's software and am not happy with the other Ontario sites that are presently available. Is anyone else having trouble right now with PS and geolocation? The traffic seems decent the last few days, so maybe this is not a widespread problem.

Although about Ont. poker, this is a puzzling post. Who's being addressed here? What is this in response to? Is it on the wrong thread?

update; after hearing from multiple people from Stars support the Mac client cannot detect location, they know about it, and are actively working on it

I'm beginning to wonder how "actively" it's going. In response to my latest nudge--in which I reminded them that I'd first reported my problem on Sept. 2--they sent the following email:
Quote:
Our Programming team is still working under resolving the issue. Please keep updating our client when new releases will be available. We introduce new versions relatively frequently. We do so because we add new features to improve our site as well as correct any bugs (most that you would not notice) that need to be fixed. In the meantime, a as temporary solution we can recommend you connecting via different platform (Windows desktop, mobile app)

Re their temporary work-arounds:
I have no Windows devices. I did dig out an older MacBook and I find that it will no longer logon to Stars at all.

But, yes, I downloaded the mobile app and lo and behold I can play ...

However, I quickly discovered I HATE the app. Many features of desktop play are missing. Using the hand replayer tends to make me sit out the next hand. And because I'm a rec (even though I play a lot), I don't use--dislike--tracking devices. With no notetaking feature available on the mobile app, I might just as well throw darts.

Since my problems began with the most recent update, is there a way for me to roll that back?

There is no "Live Chat button below". Indeed, PokerStars Ontario has no live chat--though an online search shows one.

Notices popping up on the screen saying things like this add to the frustration.

I'll stop grousing now.

They do have a live chat, I've talked to them on a few occasions on this issue. They have nothing to add though. As far as the workarounds, yeah, you can use the mobile client but that makes 8 tabling pretty difficult so that's not really a viable option. Also, no PT4 or any HUD when playing on mobile. I have an old windows machine I dug out, but it's a lot slower, and man I hate windows now that I've been on Mac for a while. Although I have a temporary workaround, it still sucks. I'm a little surprised that they haven't updated the MAC client yet, especially knowing that MAC users can't play at all. When I check with them every few days, they give me the spiel about working on it, and they'll escalate my case and give it a high priority. They probably just close the ticket and they'll get to it when they get to it is the feeling.

In my last message from PokerStars support, I was told: "Our Programming team is still working under resolving the issue. Please keep updating our client when new releases will be available. We introduce new versions relatively frequently." They updated today, but I still can't play.
