Hi guys

Long time lurker and like many of you I never read the thread in BBV until very recently despite it being on page 1 for months.

Anyway, just now we can all agree that we all admire Jared for his positive attitude and courage in the way he is dealing with the hands he's been dealt lately , so to speak. Lots of people have already been super kind and donated money to Jared, but tonight I believe he will be sleeping in his car again.

I think we need a more coordinated effort to raise a little cash for Jared for the inspiration he has given all of us and so he can put a roof over his head ASAP. It's a bit like poker bonuses, the ones paid incrementally never feel like you've gotten as much by the end as when you are paid in one go.

Therefore I suggest we set some target amount - say 5k - that will allow Jared to pay his rent up front for 6 months (until the TV show. hopefully!) and with a little left over to perhaps pay for some internet and a few treats the man deserves. I pledge 100 bucks towards this.

What we need is someone to perhaps organize this, someone with a decent 2p2 reputation and we need a poker player from the LA area who is prepared to accept all donations to his/her Stars/FT account and then can turn that into cash very quickly and personally deliver it to Jared, or to someone like Action Junkie, who can give it to Jared.

As i said previously, tonight I believe Jared is sleeping in his car yet again. Time is very much of the essence. I say we set a challenge deadline of no more than say 3 days to raise this money. I think from the feedback so far this is easily doable.

^^^^^^^^^^^^

I do not want to hold funds But I would pay 500 of the 5000 to this cause without hesitation. Lots of reputable LA guys who would help IMO.

I think Jimmy legs said he would be interested and people respect him. He also has been a big part of this big game idea

His name is not Justin, it is Jared Huggins. I am not trying to be anal retentive here, I want to make sure nothing is confusing because of the the importance of the situation.

What are the chances Pokerstars puts this guy on t.v.? Probably not the image of a poker player that they want to be presenting at a time like this. Sad but true.

What? A guy with a 3.5 GPA college grad who can't find a good job so works 2-3 in order to try and get a place to live. A guy that doesn't take food stamps or welfare or hustle the system. He just busts his ass in menial jobs until something better comes around? A guy that has so much class and pride he did not want to even tell me he was having trouble again and just wanted to try and do it all on his own. While sleeping in a car. Yeah he is a trainwreck

Please leave this thread immediately. Your negative comments are misplaced.

People are amazed and inspired because they met him, talked to him in real life, they have talked to him online, and mainly due to his actions. People are not taking what he says at face value on the internet, they have actually met him and talk to him, and even lived with him for weeks.

Alzke

I'm guessing you are leading a comfortable life. However, no matter how comfortable and stable your life is, it would surprise you if you knew how close you could be to being homeless. Once you are homeless, the things you take for granted right now - people respecting you, your next meal - become things you cherish and not take for granted. Many people faced with this situation either give up hope, or turn to alcohol and drugs, inevitably funded by crime, as they feel if no one cares about them, why should they care about themselves or anyone else.

The amazing thing about Jared is when he was facing his toughest times, he didn't give up. Nor did he feel sorry for himself or take the easy option and live life in a stupor. He decided that he had to help himself. And like almost everyone else in this thread, I have a great deal of respect for anyone who is willing to help himself. And if I can help them too in any small way, I'd be glad to.

Well said Hank. Lets not turn this thread into another pathetic internet flame war. If you think we are suckers or this is not worthy of your time I respect that. Just respect us and not be negative here please.
