Wishing him the best of luck with the freerolls!

I know that. I just wanted to let everyone here know he is not a degen and their hard earned cash is not going to get swallowed up by some regs at the 5-10 game at commerce or on pokerstars. Like I said I am sure enough of that to guarantee the money myself if that did happen. The people that know Jared personally realize that happening is impossible, but many of you do not know him personally. I apologize if I was not clear and you thought I directed my comments towards you.

@Actionjunkie

Go and start a PS big game freeroll sweat thread for Jared already for epicness in its purest form.

This is a good point, and one we shouldn't overlook. Our first order of business here should be "do no harm". The Big Game is a fabulous opportunity both for Jared and for others who might be inspired by his story. But he still has to qualify, and then he still has to be picked (prob a lock but you never know), and then he still has to wait until March, and then he still has to actually win some money. Maybe encouraging him to take time off from his job to grind isn't the wisest courses of action? Especially since regular work and a daily routine are probably very important for someone recovering from substance abuse.

We're all chomping at the bit to help, but of course we need to hear from Jared first. I'd also like to redirect attention to Justin Smith's offer. It's not quite as dramatic as getting on the Big Game, but a potential job and life coaching is probably better in the long run.

Of course, there's nothing that says he can't do both!

F the big game, let him play on each show that accepts newbs, Mill dolla challenge and the FTP clone, etc.

I can say with 100% certainty he is still keeping and respecting his jobs. The reason he did not come to vegas last night and play the freerolls in a comped room with rooms service and just relax is his jobs. He HAS to work and he knows it. I guarantee you he is being very pragmatic and careful. He is very excited about Justins offer but he will plug along until something comes to fruition. I just want to get him in a place to live so he is in a safe stable environment until some of the opportunities take hold.

I will make sure he posts today just so you guys are reassured. I do not want to be his mouthpiece. I just answer when someone has a question and if I feel answering will help Jareds situation.

After reading the HU vs a drooler thread, I read this thread and saw everyone asking for his screen names. So, I went through the Hu vs a drooler thread again. It would be nice if this could be put into the first post so everyone can have it without looking for it. This would really help him and everyone involved.

My sn's:

FT: inhale slow
Pokerstars: inhale slow
AP: relaxation
UB: -relaxation-
Doyles Room: inhale slow

*Side Note- It would be cool if a LA Poker pro was able to help him qualify for the big game since he is working ridiculously hard and may not have enough time to qualify without some coaching and help from a pro.

Save your words for the show . Remember too that no matter how nice Negreanu into you before the show, it's still ok to bust him.

For those who'd like to know a little more about Jared, there are some enlightening threads he's started in his time here at 2p2. Here's one where he talks about why he had to leave the workforce, and literally posts his resume (a few posts down) and asks 2p2 for assistance in finding meaningful work...

Wow!!!

Sorry for not replying in more detail yesterday, I only had enough time to read this thread, then message Boosted J and Daniel N. before the Starbucks closed.

Was going to take today off work, but going to go ahead and work so I don't flake on them. Tommorrow the mission to qualify will officially begin. I will play every big game free roll possible and figure out the best way to go about it while still working. I am 100% down to do everything in my power to make the most of this opportunity and to better my situation.

I am really speechless. Really.

Two weeks ago my best friend who I grew up with, we're like brothers, tried to take his own life. We had lost touch for a while, I called him up when I heard he wasn't doing so good. He told me that he felt like ending his life, so I drove up to Berkeley to see him. He said we'd talk more in person when I got there.

When I got to his apartment in Berkeley he should have been dead because he'd swallowed 2 grams of Oxycotin, enough to kill two people. Miraculously, the pills didn't dissolve in his stomach, even after 6 hours, and he vomited them back up. Instead of his plan happening, where I'd find his dead body, and identify him for the police, I was able to give him a ride back to Los Angeles. Hopefully the professional help he is getting right now, will make a difference. I've been visiting him every other day at the psychiatric hospital and have been more concerned with his situation than with my own. His condition seems to have improved.

To see this thread right now with hundreds of complete strangers signing their names to help me get on a TV show, is the most out of left field thing I have ever seen in my entire life. The feeling I have right now is crazy. It's totally undescribable. It's totally unexpected. Regardless of what comes of this, this gesture is very beautiful. All I can say is THANK YOU!

I feel like God has some sort of plan for me, whatever it is, I am very grateful!
