What reason did they give for locking it?

I had been "affiliated" (i can't quite remember the exact wording they used but something similar) with someone who had been banned from playing on ftp. I never actually got an explanation as to how i was "linked" to them.

I had people transfer me $ in exchange for real life cash/bank transfer and vice versa a few times, but nothing out the ordinary (probably 15-20 times lifetime) This was the only way i could have been "linked" with another account.

This happened around a month before black friday hit so couldn't follow it up or retrieve the $ i was owed

Did you know them? There deposit must of bounced or something like that. Thats the problem with doing transfers

You almost certainly have to. they are (legaly) seperate entities and could get into a lot of trouble with regulators, so assume youhave to go through identification with both companies.

I also do not think any company thinks sending ID and proof of address in is considered a big hassle...

I can't remember if they even told me the screen name of the account in question, the whole thing was just ridiculous (the opening and locking of the account) and how long it was taking to get information out the security department. I would have been happy to get the remaining $ out of my account and never play there again after how I was treated.

in answer to your question, I sent/received transfers to a couple of people i know in real life, the others was too people i'd sometimes chat to via skype/AIM etc. (assume both are relatively standard)

i'm optimistic that pokerstars will do a much better job at handling similar situations (been active on stars for the best part of 5 years and never had 1 issue there) FTP on the other hand was 1 huge disaster.

I think it's gonna be bad for low volume grinders. All sites including stars pay like 10% rakeback while ft used to give everyone 27%.

The cool thing about rakeback is u get it even if u just rake 10$. Now u will need to become high tier first to earn your 25%.

If everyone would get it that would be cool, but since only top level gets it it won't be good and it will be just as good to play somewhere else like on stars.

Why do we always compare rakeback %s without considering the actual size of the rake?

Doesn't make sense to me to say FTP 25% is not as good as a euro site offering 40%. What if the rake is higher at the euro site??

Why are we so concerned about rakeback % at this time. Let them get up on their feet, that should be #1 priority at this stage and will benefit everyone in the poker community... I'm sure there will be management decisions made down the track and promotions that will benefit the player base once they can afford it.

Quit quabbling over such a minor detail, focus on adding some % roi to your poker skills.

all the ub players must have a lot of sympathy for the full tilt guys that are getting their rolls back but not their old rb + iron man ('but I spent 3 years building that up!') and black card bonus deals.

So deluded, new company, new rules - a year ago you would have done anything to get your rolls back, now thats not good enough - in fact it's an injustice!

It would be nice (and cost nothing) if the new rules included a onetime screen name change.

Ive seen a few people now say that we should be lucky for getting our rolls back etc, this is ridiculous logic, i should be lucky that a company took part in fraudulent activity lost my money and now justice has been sought and im getting MY money back, i should be lucky??? this is standard, its my money, i wouldnt expect anything less than getting my cash back.
