We had that during the national poker championships here last year and I thought that was a very nice event to draw people in. I suspect it can be daunting for young people who are interested in the game to play big tournaments knowing that so much of the field have 15+ years of experience.
I think one of the absolute biggest threats to poker long term is if it becomes seen as a stereotypical "old person activity" like for instance bridge - its actually a very good game but for years I personally didnt try it because I associated it with my grandma playing with her neighbors. That is something young people just naturally have an aversion against - being associated with old people. Drawing in young people with tailored events can only be good for the long term health of the game.
The streamer game with MrBeast and stuff was probably one of the best thing to happen to poker recruitment in a long time. Having a "Young people" event and inviting people like MrBeast, XQC and other content creators to try to win a bracelet would be very good for poker. If MrBeast played in the WSOP and won a bracelet that would be absolutely huge.
in what world do you live in where poker is considered a game for old people (or close to that happening)
All the players that were part of the moneymaker era used to call the up and coming online players the whiz kids. same for GTO players...
Also poker vlogging is becoming very popular nowadays...
It's far from turning out like Bridge, Backgammon or even games like Gin Rummy
