How those players find there seat the next day is a mystery to me. I guess they have to cruise around the tables and look for their bag.
When you bag a stack at the end of the day, you write your name on a carbon-copy slip that has your seat assignment for the next day preprinted on it. So even if your name is illegible, there is a copy of your typed seat assignment both in your possession and in your bag of chips.

Yea that’s not it. It’s because they forget to write on the bag how many chips they have, or it’s illegible, or they wrote it in Mandarin or something lol. Doesn’t matter, the table and seat number are still there on the slip if it didn’t make it written on the bag as well.

So, if I want to hide from my wife how I did I can just write illegibly on the bag?

The WSOP needs to start guaranteeing a minimum number of cash tables. It is very damaging to the brand to canabilize tables wily-nily day to day making it hard for players to plan when to play. Even if the WSOP cares more about tournments, those players often want to play cash after busting (or maybe winning big).

Moreover the lack of automatic text alerts when you are called and ability of diamond members to jump to the top of the list relegates the majority of poker enthusiasts into 2nd-class citizens / turns the waiting experience into a hostage situation.

Both floor and dealers are also understaffed, creating a lot more pressure for various problems on the margin that reduce the overall playing experience and impose additional burdens on the player. For example - lots of cash games have broken automatic shufflers

I really wish some higher profile players would speak out on this issue - I understand they are more focused on tournaments but don't overlook the importance of cash games in the overall poker ecosystem, and how that can translate to tournaments.

Sidenote: Caesars also has some pretty goofy regulations around tracking 'big' 500 and 1000 chips, which is an inconvenience for players and cage personell.

Yeah thanks, found it soon after I posted. I just thought this was the WSOP discussion thread (which it used to be).

Playing cash at wsop is miserable
I have diamond was out there for 2 weeks and played there twice for one hour each time.

I posted a while ago in the tourney events thread about staffing vs. shortage at wsop. You have properly used the word "understaffed", because after my chat with dealers, there is no shortage (if you are to believe them).

First two events, we had no bad dealers. Yesterday in the $500 was pretty rough. Fortunately we had some players that knew exactly what to do and helped them along. Players could have easily thrown a fit but instead they “coached” the dealers through it. While it’s not the players job, it was nice to see. Our last dealer looked like she’d been up for 2-3 days. I felt sorry for her as she looked completely exhausted.

Not nearly enough for someone to be justified in posting that "he seems to do well too seldom to afford it."

If you come with the intention of only playing cash you shouldnt have any problem getting a seat before 2ish.
If you wait until after then, there's a good chance you have an hour or three wait
The main problem is if you play 1-3 you have the tightest players in the world surrounding you,
you must play higher if you want any action

Just yesterday a younger guy (morbidly obese and with the worst neckbeard I've ever seen)
sat down and played 3 hands and got stacked and whined "didnt realize I was at the geriatric table"
and we all laughed at him and he table changed.

I wanted to say, "uh buddy, you're 6 months from your first heart attack and will be lucky to live long enough to become a geriatric" . . . but I held it back.

Really. Have you totaled his entry fees? You include all reentries? How many years of play are we discussing? How much of himself did he sell or trade?

I agree with $27MM wins he is likely ahead but hiw much or how much per hour we don’t know.

With 27M in earnings would seem odd to just leap to “how the hell is he still playing in these things?!”

But yeah we are not his CPA so we don’t have all details

Hmm, not super confident on the dealers - I was told something like "by the end of the series everyone has to work 6 days."

I did speak with a cash floor who told me the tournament side took a few people who were expected to work cash all series at the last minute, and when its busy floor just doesnt have enough bodies to deal with all the issues quickly.

Another issue is King's Lounge using a bunch of empty tables most of the time and some of the games not really even being big.

They spread 5/10 with a 400 min which is preposterous.

I stated I have diamond bc diamond skips the list. Whenever I go I'd have almost no wait. And it was still an awful experience.

I know, I was speaking more to those who were curious in general. You diamond people have it pretty good when it comes to WSOP time and no waiting. I never had to wait too long, but it still must be great to not even wonder about the lengths of the lists
