Erik Seidel hasn’t won a live bracelet since 2007 (he did win an online high roller bracelet in 2021)

He might get one tonight though!

event #29, the $100k High Roller, has me wondering if Alex and Kristen Foxen play out of separate or the same bankroll

event #29 allows for one rebuy, so if they share the same bankroll they potentially had $400k set aside for this MTT. pretty wild to think about. it seems they are successful MTTers. having $400k to fire at one MTT must mean they have a multi-million shared couple bankroll (again, if they share a bankroll)

Extremely highly unlikely they have 100% of themselves

True. But also who would stake Kristen foxen in a $100k event? Lighting money on fire, maybe they were a package deal or something for investors. Who knows

Many of them are staked and do swaps but wouldn’t just automatically assume that none of them have significant %s if not 100%.

This guy arrived on scene after blinking some WPT stuff so if he took a shot at some high roller events he could just be playing his own money. His win right away after starting to play them.

But if he does swap say 10-20% I still in a sense consider him to be playing 100% of himself. He has 100% of the money at risk.

Alex has 5% and Kristen has 10% for sale of the $250k on PokerStake. And who knows how many other friends/investors have a piece.

Not in a million years are the Foxen's going to blast $1.4m of their own money on two tournaments.

I know LHE has been slowly dying for the past two decades, but I’d think it’s still much more popular than Razz. There’s dozens of casinos across the country that still spread LHE games every day, and I’ve literally never seen a live stand-alone Razz game spread anywhere in my life.
I think you answered your own question, if you want to play Razz for hours the WSOP is pretty much your only option in the world. It's more of a novelty.

WSOP is mostly played by poker lovers who can appreciate mixing up the hold'em monotony. LHE cash games are still alive but mostly played by bad players who don't want the pressure of NL, and they're not playing a ton of tournaments.

You get into the queue for re-entrants to get new seat assignment, is what I've seen.

Yes, but first you have to either print your seat assignment from the kiosk, or get it at the cage if you rebuy there, in either case your ticket will likely say “(late)” which means you enter the late-reg line to receive your chips and new seat card.

Funny looking back on it, I was playing with Matusow, Negreanu, Karina Jett (wasnt Jett back then but cant remember her maiden name) and others. The place to play back then was The Mirage...I remember being so obsessed with the game, virtually nothing could get my attention away from the table...however, I did take a break to go watch the Sands Casino get blown up to make way for The Venetian.

Treasure island closed down their poker room in the late 90's and had a 50K+ bad beat jackpot they were forced to give away so they gave $500 to the high hand every hour. I won one with quads, came in second with quads again and somehow my buddy won with a full house. We played for like 30 hours straight and the place was packed until the last $500 was gone and then it was a ghost town.

I miss those days and the excitement I had for the game

I was thinking about this the other day sine ive been reading stories like this and i went to vegas a few years ago.

the amount of rooms you can play poker in on the strip has been reduced like 50% of what it used to be it seems. mandalay bay might remove their room in a year or two and then we are left with what? only 5-6 rooms on strip?

Nine by my count, not including stuff like Orleans and Southpoint

You don’t want to see any rooms close. That said having smaller rooms close that only spread a few low limit nlhe games doesn’t move the needle. Your 50% number seems high but even if true effective available tables decreased by much less

Wondering if new Fontaine Bleu (sp?) might have a poker room

It’s pretty insane how much of a battle this $10k O8 championship seems to be.

They were 9 handed since 9:15 PM Vegas time yesterday, and there was a long battle to go from 11 players or so down to 9.

Still 7 players left with pretty even stacks.

If LHE cash games are mostly played by bad players, which is probably true at lower limits, then the games must be good games to play in. See ya at The Orleans 8/16 later this month. Deal me in!

I would expect that the 20/40 and higher games at Bellagio include plenty of good players, and hopefully a few fish (me? lol). If I have some run good and can build the bankroll, I hope to play the 20/40.
