Thread should be locked, I have no problems at all with bullying a proven scammer in any way. However in this case it is not proven that his story is completely fake and no one is going to find out or cares if it is true what the guy said. If his story is partially true, a lot of you wish you never posted in this thread.

I did a little searching on his name. There's no wife, kid, or kidnapping to be found. False names, or his wife kept her maiden name and/or never used the internet.

However, I specifically asked him in my second email if he did other gambling besides poker. The relevant line:

Quote:
Do you gamble at all aside from poker? How often do you drink alcohol or use drugs? Those are other important factors [...]
He had a lot to say about how he never drinks or uses drugs, but his response to gambling in a followup was incredibly murky:

Quote:
As for other forms of gaming I don't see the need as I profit so consistentally in poker.
O rly?

I found an online review of a Las Vegas casino which he wrote and signed his name to just over a month ago. I really wish I could post it or even some snippets of it, but I tested what I wanted to share in a search engine, and in doing so I'd be outing his name to anyone who can use google. This fellow doesn't deserve that. Suffice it to say, he explicitly talks about his whole family wanting to go with him this time, how profitable it was for them, and how they all played so many table games that their rooms and food were totally comped. Corroborating information in the review confirms it's the same person.

So yeah, I would consider this guy full of **** until further notice.

To the guys who believe this story I hope you're under 25, at least you have an excuse for being sooooooo naïve and gillible. Anyone who can't smell the bs in this guy a mile away really needs to step out into the real world.

"Lock the thread, give the guy a break" LOL, you can't be serious.

You already demonstrated that he's lying about the poker. Now you've determined that he's lying about the back story.

He is a fraud. He is attempting either to steal a backer's money or at best to enter a contract under false pretenses.

So, why again does he not deserve to be outed?

Guys who wanted the thread locked, like me, didn't say they believed the story, just that there was not enough evidence to hang him, DRybes gave more information now and it is more likely that the guy is a scam. If he also gives information that others can verify and the guy is a scammer I would even enjoy seeing that the guy is burned to the ground.
Further, I think you are the naive one, willing to hang the guy based on the information above your post. It wouldn't be the first time on this forum attacking a guy like that did not end well.

What are you guys talking about? His poker background is pretty much bs. Then he goes on to lie about his kid being kidnapped and his wife killing herself? This is 100% a scam, it is very obvious. I mean maybe he is fully intending to to actually playing poker on the stake and not just straight up stealing it. Problem is he is lying through his teeth and misleading people, obviously.

I personally think the poker community is obligated to **** with this guy.

It's alarming that you think the part of the story that could be true is the only part that is quite obviously not true.

Don't wanna open that can of worms with a low level of certainty. What did I thoroughly prove? Really, only that he's not as good as he thinks, and that he tells a weak story.

I'm with Hoobangin in that I believe he fully intends to play poker on the stake and not just run with it. I'm just not convinced the guy can win in the games he wants to play.

I also don't know the ramifications of exposing someone's details based mostly on hunches or the ever-changing, ever-polarized opinions of NVG; If you feel some need to out the guy, it's very easy for you to take it into your own hands and find out his name... be my guest and e-mail him on craigslist. Me spending <15 minutes trying and not being able to verify something I know next to no details about doesn't automatically make it false, it just makes him look like a pathetic sob-story fabricator.

He's going to get one chance to defend himself, poorly, against all these theories so stay tuned. Can't believe I responded to him again, but NVG seems to demand it.

So funny you try and act smart yet couldn't see thru this guys bs, no way you're over 25

Whether or not the guy deserves to be actively harrassed is one thing, but he certainly doesn't deserve a whole load of sympathy. He is actively conning people by lying about his ability to play poker. If I put up an advert for people to pay me money to build them a house, given I can't build houses, and called it an investment opportunity, that would make me a scumbag. This is no different. He's just another scammer.

Given how many typos/errors the listing had, I'm going to say, with a reasonable amount of certainty that the ad isn't by "JT" at all. It's clearly by ... TJ.

Yeah, and that whole thing about an invented back-story of his child being kidnapped and his wife being murdered... that was nothing, the guy definitely still just wants the monies to play poker at the stakes he says, and will honorably pay you your juice.

I really don't understand why perfectly reasonable people turn into complete morons when they read pitches like this. Oh well, I guess there's the reason why the Nigerian scammers made so much money: naive people.

What do you think of this example genius.

Beginning of the thread:
Quote:
This is in regards to the man who says he is dying of chronic wasting disease and is trying to raise money for stem cell treatment:

To be brutally honest, his story sounds very sketchy to me. No one has ever (EVER) been diagnosed with this disease (Chronic Wasting Disease, CWS)
Then after a thread like this, and then some, this is how it ended:
Quote:
Scott Kawalske passed away yesterday May 7th around 6pm.

To those of you that assume that this was a scam, Im sure his mother is wishing that were true..

Scott was told by his doctors that he has CWD. He didnt pick the diagnosis out of a hat. He was also told that the only way to know for sure that he has CWD was through a biopsy on his brain that can only be performed after he is dead because of the area of his brain that would need to be tested.

All of you that are "sick of hearing about it" I suppose after the tests are done you will finally have peace. If anyone bothers to inform this board on the outcome after seeing some of these posts.

I just hope that Scott never stumbled upon this site before he died. He was already going through an emotional hell.
Threads like mentioned above are reason for me why i like to see some prove before you make all kind of accusations against someone, but i quess that is naive, Iliketoparty?
