As much as it makes me vomit in my mouth, with Annie "the c**t" Duke at the helm, this could be the greatest shot you Americans have of getting your online game back. GL

Hmmm where do you get the $450 figure from? Hendon Mob has me at 1.16M lifetime and I was thinking I need 1.25M cashes right?

You need $600 since 2008.

Shane, you have around 150K in cashes since 1/1/2008. To qualify for a 2 year "B" membership, you would need $600K (i.e. 450K short). You have 8 cashes, so the next qualifying cash, you can check the 9 cash minimum criteria off the list.

Also, you are nowhere near the 1.25M criteria, as many of your cashes don't meet the $1,500 minimum buy-in criteria. 3 of your 4 biggest lifetime cashes are excluded.

Just take down a WSOP or WPT event before August. GL.

But wait, then the $750K cap will get you and you'll be 250K short. Make sure to final table another event or two as well.

Unless I've read it wrong, this just seems like a live version of the 100r (fairly tough field) with a 20k buyin, with a 10% overlay for each of the first 4 tourneys (assuming 200 players each tourney to make it simple), and roughly a 16% overlay overall if u qualify for the final freeroll (2.6mil added to the 16mil in total buyins).

Im gonna go out on a limb and say they are getting more than 2.6mil for the tv contract. Seems like it could have potential though

100% agree. Nothing against Doyle, but the moment you consider other factors that a purely objective criteria is the moment you lose legitimacy. Once you start including subjective factors, you end up like the Heads Up Championship - a made-for-TV event where Emmit Smith gets chosen over many quality players who aren't as well known or TV-friendly.

Sure, it'd be nice if they include major online tournaments, but the fact is, they set a purely objective criteria and stuck to it - and the list actually looks fairly good - yeah, Galfond's not on it, but that's a small price to pay - the only "questionable" players on this list still got there by cashing in numerous live events - the "questionable" ones are pretty much all the old-school top professionals who are no longer at the elite level but still have the bankroll/sponsors to play pretty much all the signficant tournaments, so simply by sheer volume they'll end up cashing in a few of them, but even that's not a foregone conclusion -Harrington, Tomko, Cloutier aren't all the list, and I'm sure they play in the vast majority of major live tournaments...

Not having Phil Galfond and similar is a small price to pay for making sure Darvin Moon, Dennis Phillips and the like aren't invited b/c they're big names, nor Harrington/Tomko/Cloutier because any old school pro like Annie Duke would instantly think to put them down as top pros deserving of a spot.

Debate the criteria, that's fine, it's certainly not the best since it doesn't even consider online tournaments, but it's still much better than going by anything subjective - they set specific criteria and stuck to it - and as far as I can tell, they'll make it so that people who want to try to qualify for the roster know EXACTLY what they have to do to qualify - so anyone who wants in can't complain or cry about not being invited - just go out there and cash in enough live tournaments and they have to take you.

It looks like you should be on the list. The only thing I could think of is maybe they didn't count the Ante Up for Africa event?

Just in case anyone missed this pokernews interview: http://www.pokernews.com/news/2011/0...lack-10327.htm

Interesting that they use the PGA as a model.

Pollack refers to 2+2 as the "barometer of opinion" for poker there too btw. They both are pleased that 2+2 has been "broadly positive".

Why are people who didn't get the initial invite worried?

You know they're going to have at least 50 peeps on that list who aren't going to put up 20k of their own money and the "dinero truck" from FT and PS has stopped making deliveries.

They'll then lower the stats to see if they can at least get 200 to "buy-in".

This won't be on TV cause advertisers aren't gonna buy time for it, unless it's part of an "added value" buy.

The first one might get taped, but that's probably where this thing fades to black.

Re Post:

From what I hear this tour is to reflect on something like the PGA or ATP. However, unlike these organisations can the winner consider themselves the best in the world at the end of the year? Four NLH tournaments isnt going to come across that conclusion. So what is the purpose if the fans as well as the players know that this concept still does not get us closer to that answer? Also other than the cap on tournament wins, how much different is this from the WPT's PPT?

The WPT PPT was a $500K freeroll I believe. They pad top 6 and winner got like 250, these guys don't want to play 3-4 days for 250K.

The PPT may not have been a bad concept, but it was horribly executed. The TV show was unwatchable.

this.

I think that the fsg should have like 10-20 internet kids allowed, and should have 50 open seats to every event (must qualify through a satty process).

This allows the young guns to get in and allows the general public to get in as well (but will be a much higher pro to amature ratio then nearly any other tourney series and thus make great TV).

Am I the only one to find this whole concept silly? She and her friends from the early days can't hack it in the real poker world anymore so they are creating their own league where only "pros" play.

Seems like a giant ego stroke for AD and friends, and given her relationship with UB I couldn't care less if she fell of the planet and was never on my TV ever again.

Will not be watching.
