Why dont you send your tech guy round to help him out?

I heard he just has a play about with the router. Then uses your private shower. And blam! perfect internet.

There's no way Rider is winning at that kind of rate vs Soss, he's obviously running good; but it's also very clear that the probability he doesn't have a skill edge is extremely small.

And anyone tempted to post another "15k hands sample means nuffin!", make sure you can back up that statement with the appropriate math in the context of current win rate and number of hands played.

If you can't, realize that your opinion is meaningless, close your browser and give your brain some much needed intellectual stimulation.

Just make sure he doesn't back into your roommates car when he leaves.

Well said.
It seems it doesn't matter the sample size, there will always be those that say its not enough. I have nothing but respect for both guys that took on this challenge. But lets give Rider some credit where credit is due. The man won convincingly.

Card distribution is 'run good' too. Not just about getting there while behind.

Doubt the guy was referencing card distribution though, and even if he was it's a pretty dumb comment anyways.

Exactly, in fact, WCG ran $80k BELOW all in EV in this particular session. I know run good incorporates card distribution etc but the fact is that Sauce ran well in this match, no doubt.

We often hear estimate about edges and in this match I've heard 4bb/100 for WCG being tossed around (which some people think is generous for WCG). In this match it would mean a total win of $120.000 for WCG. I wonder how people estimate these edges? I feel like these estimations are way too small, and the edges could be many times than the seemingly random figures that are being thrown around.

I might obviously be totally wrong here. But could someone tell me how they estimate the edge between two world class players? Is there something more behind those estimations than "OK I think WCG is better player, but Sauce is very good too. So the edge has to be something around 4bb/100" and that's it. Or what?

nope, it's just people making **** up. The man heuristic is to pick the guy you like then assert a win rate that is believable (20bb/100 just isn't believable for instance) to try and get others to believe you.

meh idk it's hard to guesstimate but when you look at your own winrate vs regs you can see what kind of skill difference leads to what kind of winrates, and then you try to guess how big the skill difference between two people out of the top 3 can be

Has Sauce said anywhere that he thinks wcg has an edge on him?

Since Sauce was the king you'd have to believe him if he said they are equals or he himself is better. But then people make some nonsense up that his play has got worse.

Wcg won over a decent sample and has a winning record before. If he says he's the best then do we believe him. What if Galfond said he wasn't?

Confused. Random.

there's alot of completely meaningless speculation ppl pulled out of thin air with nothing to back it up in here. but thankfully there is a fact about this match:

they played. Rider crushed Sauce.

Kudos for you guys for a few things.

1. Announcing a HU match.
2. Actually playing HU match within a few days.
3. Playing multiple sessions within a month.
4. Being practically finished within a month (have about 1,500 hands to play).
5. Providing entertainment for the rail birds and NVG.

Congrats to WCG, well deserved. I honestly thought Sauce would pull it out, but well done either way. GG both.

Why would Galfond's opinion hold any merit here? Galfond isn't a HUNL player, he almost only plays PLO (where, he of course, is fantastic).

I think Doug is the better player now; as a matter of fact, I'm very certain of it. I don't think it comes down to him being more ''talented'' or however you'd like to describe it, but Doug simply working way harder on his HUNL-game than Sauce, who also works a lot on his PLO-game (where most of his action has been lately).

They probably have a similar ''talent''/understanding of poker, but Sauce's focus has been elsewhere (afaik), whereas Doug focuses 100% on HUNL, which is why he now is the best in the world.

Sauce said in the chat that he would play Doug half plo, half nlhe after the challenge, WCG's answer was "I'm a nit.".Later Sauce said(i am paraphrasing) "It's not wise for me to play you nl only but i might do it later(after the challenge) just for the entertainment value."

Deduction here would be Doug has a small edge, small enough that Sauce is willing to play him in future despite he knows he's an underdog. And since everyone's guessing, my guess is that Doug's edge is smaller than 3ptbb.
