Because a fish doesn't get to play vs another fish. He plays bots. Thats why.

Whats with all the incredibly stupid questions in this thread?

ipoker are changing their T&C's. Remains to be seen what difference it will make, but at least it's something.

i still don't understand how bots are beating games like 1kNL, are they ss bots (40bb)? like how the hell could they possibly play turns and rivers profitably vs regulars? is there a thread where there are some hand histories posted from the bots? i read somewhere that they rarely cold call at all, and that they just 3bet or fold. super interesting stuff imo.

This is the biggest threat to online poker ever. If anything will kill our game. Bots will be it.

I seriously think the community has to think of ways to reduce this threat. Reduce the impact which is has - and will have.

We need to get the upper hand. This is a very real threat.

Sigh, beating 5/10 games? Botters will copy each other just like we players copy strategy.

I am sincerely worried about this.

As the sites are just ignoring this issue as it is against their financial interest we have to do something dramatic to make them take notice. How about we pick a date and publicise it and then boycott every site except Stars for a 24hr period. Hurt them in the pocket until they take notice and keep doing it every couple of weeks. This is a serious threat to our future incomes playing poker for a living. We can't just let them siphon money from the already fragile poker economy.

This.

Pretty much any other suggestion is painful. 40% taxes better get scumbag bot-rings thrown in jail.

The way the punishment is delegated in the current climate of online poker is unsuccessful imo. Yes, funds are seized and accounts are closed. Yes, you are outed by your piers/community but the opportunities to just go back to business as usually after being caught is too dam easy.

Imagine a 3-4 year prison sentence for breaking the T&C's depending on the crimes severity? I suppose we need to start with actually being able to lock up the owners of these websites before we start going after individual players.

Chris? Howard? any suggestions?

Is there a list of bot names anywhere?

I wish someone with a legal background would explain exactly why using a bot is not fraud.

If a player assumes they are playing another human (as per site's T&C), and a bot operator wins money from them, this is clearly fraud IMO.

I am already boycotting all sites except pokerstars. I suggest everyone does the same thing lol

But the FISH should know to rather play on stars. We should somehow get the word out.
