Brian Hastings opens to 50,000 from middle position and Andrew Moreno calls in the small blind. Jonas Mackoff, in the big blind, three-bets to 225,000, only to see Hastings push out a full stack of green 25,000 value chips for a four-bet to 550,000.
Moreno folds and after some thought, Mackoff calls to see the flop, leaving himself just over 1,700,000 to Hastings's 2,000,000.
The flop falls 8d 7h 7s and Mackoff check-calls a bet of 300,000 and then both players check the Tc turn card.
The Th completes the board and Mackoff checks for a third time, sending Hastings into the tank. After a few moments of thought, Hastings verbalizes "eight hundred thousand".
The dealer confirms the amount and that bet sends Mackoff deep into the tank, as he spends close to six minutes counting and recounting his stack, while staring down the recent multiple bracelet winner.
With the ESPN cameras all around him, Mackoff eventually folds, shooting Hastings a look before pushing his cards towards the muck.
Both player's hands take a quick detour though, with the ESPN production staff peaking at the cards before they are officially in the muck, with Hastings saying, "You can probably see that one on tv."
You probably will, as it was one of the bigger pots of the tournament thus far and while no one knows what each player held, what is known is that Brian Hastings has regained a spot near the top of the Main Event leaderboard.
Brian Hastings - 3,400,000 (170 bb)
Jonas Mackoff - 1,150,000 (57 bb)
