Sorry if this is seen as trolling, but afaik, only players from the UK and Germany do not get winnings taxed from either the U.S. or their home countries, while others are taxed on various %(Mostly 30% from what I gather) based on where they are from. Question is why there are still so many people playing in the World Series considering the amount raked by taxes+expenses which would probably make them -ev for the series(not sure about math)

Really, so recs who decide to play and don't have an income in the mid 6 figures or more are scumbags because they should be doing other things with their money?

Arguments with these types of thoughts are futile at best, as no minds are going to change, and both sides are going to assume the worst of the other.

I personally just have a problem with those who judge others without knowing them. Everyone is allowed their opinion, but sometimes you're opinion is stupid, and the fact you chose to vocalize it relieves all doubt of your level of intelligence.

yup

For Canadians, unless gambling is your "profession" gambling winnings are viewed as "windfall profits" and are not taxed. While the US may withhold 30% of any lump sum won, that amount can be relatively easily returned to you with a simple filing that you can do on your own for a few hundred bucks or can be done for you by others for a percentage fee.

Ridiculous claims itt. It's not because you have kids or a family to support that you're suddenly no longer allowed to spend money on fun stuff anymore.

When u say withhold, is that for US players only or for players as well from other countries?

Well the very fact that he folded AA pf makes it abundantly clear that he's playing over his head / irresponsibly and is dead money.

Playing main event instead of family vacation / kids college fees / doing up your house etc is disgusting.
Saying that is way too harsh imo, but there's some truth to it.

I wonder how many players would decide against playing in the ME if they knew how -EV they are in real dollars. I assume there's a decent number of people who wouldn't play if they knew that they lose something like $3000 on average by playing.

You people arguing that he's gambling above his roll are the reason why online poker isn't regulated yet. Let people do what the **** they want with their money and **** off.

Why fold the AA? shove pre and at least pick up blinds. Play to win, not to min cash. Getting AA around bubble is pretty good spot.

I did this a few months ago at a WPT where I raised and then was put allin a few spots from the bubble by a woman with a near identical stack (tiny bit less) who held 109. She won and crippled me. I asked why she did it so near the bubble and she said, "I thought you were makin' a move and no ones pushin' me around buddy."

I now begrudge no one who wants to get into the money first and folds AA to do it because you can't win a tourney unless you first get to the money and you never know what northern European is going to call you with garbage and get lucky.

Next time I will play like PH, fold everything near the bubble, make the cash, and then win it ... son.
