4. Players that us fan boys wanting to see not playing. Durrr, Gus, Timex, Tony G, Hellmuth (although looks like he still might), etc.

It will be interesting to see what happens after event.

I predict this will be the last one drop, atleast with a million dollar buy in. Lack of businessmen willing to enter being the primary reason...

You know you're a degen when you agree to pay 111,100 charitable donation but you can't play without selling, and you're playing to make a profit. So was Guy was like, okay the fee is 111,100 because 11.11% sounds cool and want max money to go to the charity? Guy is a billionaire. These pros didn't think to get the rake reduced on this event. Lol, I'm not going to feel sorry for any pro who loses 1m in this event, no matter if they can afford to be playing or not. Suckers to pay 111k, does a receipt and thank you card come with that? You get to be on ESPN though.

If you're playing because you have 50m or more and the money won't make a difference to you and you want to help a good charity, that's different.

Did he really sell 170%? If so, at some point people need to file criminal charges against these con artists.

Yeah I think overall this One Drop is pretty disappointing. A few big names missing which is quite surprising, I am sure there are unknown reasons for them missing but I wouldn't be shocked if this was the last million dollar buy in for awhile.

The businessman-pokerpro ratio is nothing like it was planned to be. I wonder what´s the problem here and I would like to here it from the businessmen themselves.

My initial reaction is to say this will for sure be the last $1M One Drop with them continuing to do the 100K One Drop. That event got 166 runners last year so I doubt One Drop will be gone all together. But 2 years is a ways away and the are ways to pull off this event. I would imagine there are at least 100 ppl with 1M to spend on a poker tournament its just a matter of recruiting them appropriately. There are a lot of things wrong with the way this event is run so if they correct those (get companies like Monster or Red Bull to buy seats as a promotion, fix payout structure, eliminate the rake (not including the charity part) etc.) I could see another 1M event in 2016

Of the 42 entrants, 10 would easily be described as businessmen. It's an insanely tough roster of pros, but it's not like there isn't any reason for pros to want to play this.

There is no rake, only the charity donation.

Quote:
There will be no rake or house fees to operate the event, and $111,111 of each buy-in will be taken out as a charitable donation to ONE DROP. Thus, $888,889 goes directly into the prize pool.

This reminds of a story about how Phil Ivey was willing to do a 10 million SNG but no else agreed to it.

How did Lingren sell 70% in a few hours while others like Phil Helmuth have not been able to sell enough to get in. His creditors most likely gave up debt to get a piece of his action. Probably better to get a piece of the action than to not get paid at all.
