It’s been three weeks since students started taking over university campuses and we can now officially call it – they’ve blown it.

Instead of being defined as young people driven by a principled stand against Palestinian suffering in Gaza, they’re now broadly defined as a bunch of entitled, whiny, immature kids who want their 21st century creature comforts but also every single political demand immediately. And also: the meal plan.

Instead of being seen as champions for free speech they’re now defined as creepy groupthinkers who robotically chant slogans and follow directives by some shadowy, far-left leaders who wear masks and spew terms from Maoist playbooks like “imperialist forces” and something something “settler-colonialists.”

This video of a Columbia doctoral student asking for “basic humanitarian aid” while standing outside the university administration building she and others had broken into, barricaded and commandeered will be a historic moment in stamping this movement as …a bunch of babies.

Student activist: “They’re obligated to pay for students who pay for a meal plan… Do you want students to die of dehydration of starvation?… It’s crazy to say because we’re on an Ivy League campus but this is, like, basic humanitarian aid we’re asking for.”

Reporter: “It seems like you’re sort of saying, ‘We want to be revolutionaries, we want to take over this building, now would you please bring us some food.”

The video has nearly 50 million views on Twitter-X.

Then there’s this fantastic Threads post about UCLA activists banning bananas from their encampment because one person had a severe allergy to bananas. “Participants when checking in have to confirm they don’t have any banana products on them.”

Another movement-defining image is going around Twitter of a University of Chicago list of “supply needs” at the encampment, including vital safe-sex aids among other – “HIV tests, dental dams, Plan B, Diva cup [for menstruation].” Also “Chapstik.” Implied but not stated: Mom! Please bring it quickly!

Media starting to get their hands on some of the online training programs the campus protestor groups often had access to.

It's definitely a lot of "Hamas is the resistance, these are the good guys" stuff. I think a lot more than this thread wants to admit...

Looks like thousands of people committed conspiracy against rights which is a severe federal criminal offense

If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person [...] in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same;...

They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.[1][2]

Encampments which barred "zionists" from moving around are exactly that.

Now we should charge everyone involved in this since conception with that statute and move from there.

The rebranding of the BLM Summer Of Love has ben a massive failure. This was the most cringe cultural appropriation I have ever seen. Disenfranchised creepy white kids pretending to be poor little Gaza people in their little mini Gaza's soon realized they weren't so good at it. Now the world is laughing at them. I feel bad for the Palestinians because this is yet another step backward for them. If people in Gaza thought they had it bad before it's about to get a whole lot worse.

I hope the FBI goes over the tape like they did for the Jan 6 Capital riots. I hope these criminals do the max prison time. Also, our leaders need to get very serious about our immigration and Visa policies. The number of American hating, Jew hating Jihadists in this country is scary. Trump is looking a lot smarter in hindsight I would say.

I'm starting to sense that the pro Palestinian folks in here are running out of steam. Perhaps they are trying to distance themselves from the failed protests. It's been a brutal few weeks for them.

Maybe now that the temperature has been dialed down we can have a constructive conversation about this very serious matter. Anger and hate have never been the answer.

Students gonna student. It's recreational. I can just remember TV footage of London students working themselves into a lather outside the US Embassy in 1968, pointlessly fighting with the police and chanting, 'Ho! Ho! Ho Chi Minh!' and generally having a nice day out, when dear old Uncle Ho would have had the lot of them sent to re-education camp as bourgeois deviationists, and the Vietnam War had nothing to do with Britain anyway because PM Harold Wilson, despite LBJ's ugly threats to cause a run on sterling, declined to send British troops there. But students gonna student.
