Sad part is that 100 a day would still be quite a bit higher per capita than most other countries. Is what it is...

US tests more you ingrates. That is why so many Americans are dying. Apparently testing for Covid kills people.

Just had an interesting exchange with a childhood friend of mines who lives in Georgia. Today is sunday, he and who knows how many people are currently at a lake having "baptism" lol

Atleast they went all in with the ignorance and didnt wear masks in the lake.

Testing for COVID doesn’t kill people. In the NFL it just yields false positives at a rate of 1 : 1

You can find some other countries, mostly in South America, that are having a worse time than the United States right now. There are not a lot.

Bolivia: 6.5 deaths/million/day
Brazil: 5.7
Peru: 5.5
Chile: 5
Mexico: 5
Panama: 4.3
Argentina: 4.3
Colombia: 4.1
South Africa: 3.3
United States: 3.3
Ecuador: 3.2
...
Belgium: 0.6
Netherlands: 0.6
Spain: 0.3
Sweden: 0.3
Ireland: 0.2
Italy: 0.1
UK: 0.1
Canada: 0.1
Germany: 0.1
France: 0
New Zealand: 0

This is just a sample obviously, there's a lot of countries down near the bottom with 0-1 deaths per day. Open question as to whether cutting the USA's daily deaths by 90% actually gets us to the bottom half of the world.

Good news is Spain, Italy and UK are in the US sights and will be passed soon for Deaths/Million based on trajectory.

US exceptionalism demands they lead in all the key stats. They will not and should not accept any other first world countries ahead of them.

Brazil is going to be a challenge for them. Their leader is kind of special as well, so the USA#1 may have to yield eventually to that competitor despite all of their efforts to date.

As well, when Biden beats LOLTrump the USA will start to change their approach quite a bit, whereas Brazil will hardly get any better, so the election figures to mess up Trump's results in that regard to be the top, though they should continue to reign as the leader of conventional first world nations.

I don't consider America in a race against Brazil despite the fact America is leading them.

America must be compared to other 1st World Nations, and not 3rd world countries or tiny island nations with no real health care that were devastatingly hit.

I know that some Trumpists will resort to pointing at those nations, and somehow suggesting the US is not doing so bad because "look Brazil" but that would be truly nutty, even for them.

Bad news.

First confirmed re-infection or person getting Covid twice is now on the books. Will update with link.

Edit

First case of coronavirus reinfection confirmed, researchers say

Yes. Being racist requires some intentional mental stance. Viruses do not have that capacity anymore then guns do.

I don't think it's bad news. There is ~0 chance that covid immunity could be 100%. Bad news would be about high rates of reinfection - that is still very possible, even likely.

If it's disabused anyone of the notion that there is some sort of guaranteed immunity then it's good news. The 'there is no evidence of ...' as an excuse for bad public policy or behavior can be defeated.

The sickle cell is a mutation found in malarial areas of the world, which confers a degree of protection against malaria, the disadvantage being that if you inherit the trait from both parents you develop sickle-cell anaemia. Why do you ask?

This is well worth the watch if you are interested in knowing what the issues are with convalescent plasma both pro and con. It's not political at all.

It is a different strain which does not sound promising. It is starting to sound this virus is like the flu with different strains. If that is the case this is gonna be a long drawn out virus that might never have a fullproof vaccine
