To be honest, I've said it a few times in the thread, Tower has been reasonably helpful. One thing I wish they were able to do were to relay updates from Ongame's risk department to me, other then weeks of "The investigation is still ongoing".

Keep holding on to hope, man. With the way Tower has been communicating with you, it seems they are working on making things right instead of ignoring you or like other sites, saying nothing can be done. I think everything will work out, it just takes time

in for the free roll! jk of course, real post below:

wow, so insanely sickening! i just recently cashed huge in a tourny and when it was over there were like 5-10 ppl (didnt count) that have been watching the whole time and they all started talking. you know, the "dude you just won $X, lemme borrow 10 bucks!" and i was actually worried about my money for the night! i left my PS app open (someone would have to sneak in my house and empty it while i slept in the room next to my comp, and your account can only be logged in on 1 comp at a time).

point being, perhaps someone knew your SN on tower, googled it, found email etc that way? infact i would almost bet money that whoever did it is infact a fellow poker player. do you have ANY SN on ANY websites that are similar/same as your tower SN?

anyways, i know we are kind of beyond that and just want to get your money back. good luck with the struggle. i know i would also feel horrible if i were to lose money like that!

Yeah I think you're right, in my defense I feel I have been as close to calm and professional as one can be considering the situation. I wasn't feeling it that day though.

I received a reassuring email that the investigation is at a stall point with the fraud team at Webmoney. There is not much I can do other than to wait... which makes you feel helpless when there is this much money at stake.

In for the freeroll is perfectly 100% acceptable. Even if people posted just that in this thread I would be happy. It helps keep this topic alive! There really is nothing more in the world that I want then to get my money back and get hammered and host a freeroll to have some fun.

that sucks so much op, having my poker accounts hacked is definitely one of my biggest fears, i try not to keep all my money on one account or e-wallet, and i have settled some ridiculously complicated passwords everywhere.

Just out of curiosity are you a professional poker player? And was that your only bankroll? Hope it is not so, or it would sucks even more...

Good Luck man

everytime i read a thread like this, i get really nervous. i always THINK about taking some time to make my passwords better, or figure out how to be even more secure online. i was hoping to see this thread come to a positive outcome at the end. sadly, that hasnt happened...yet. to op...this thread, hopefully, will finally get me to take the additional measures that i should to become more secure. so thanks for that. i really wish you gl with everything, and also add that you have handled this well, and much better than i would.

Maybe Liz can give us some sort of update.

As soon as the user emailed Tower, they should have contacted Webmoney and told them to hold anything from the account it was withdrawn into while they both investigate. Anything less is very bad and makes these situations worse.

OP, how secure were your email password recovery questions? That looks like the likely culprit to me. Did you ask hotmail if any emails were deleted or any other IP address got into your email account? I just read up on this whole thread and didn't see this mentioned, I apologize if it already has.

And good luck, as GM said, you've handled this better than 99% of people, keep it up and you'll maximize your chances of a good end result.

sorry have not read whole thread.

Just wanted to say that keyloggers can be quite difficult for anti-virus to pick up..Obviously device drivers for keyboards use similar coding and it can be possible to create a keylogger that won't be picked up with most conventional AV suites.

OP, what programs did you use to secure your computer? Nothing from warez-bb i hope?

Just a tip to everyone, buy KeyScrambler. It makes it alot harder for hackers to actually hack your account. (it won't stop the expert hackers but it will stop the lesser exp'd hackers)

If you didn't change e-mailadress yet, do it asap

Thank you for contacting Tower Gaming support.

In regards to your inquiry about security token, I have confirmed with the relevant department and we have made the suggestion to have this added, however, we do not have this option available at the moment. Should this become available in the future, we will notify you via Newsletter.

Hey guys, here is the newest update:

The most recent news I have received has come from my affiliate who has been in contact since the beginning of this investigation with upper management at Towergaming.

Here is a part of the email:

Hi Paul,

What is your telephone number? I would like to call to discuss below. Please also indicate a good time to call?

Finally! I have some actual news to report.

After a lengthy discussion with Towergaming, here is current state of affairs.

Basically –

1. Ongame have all of the information from Webmoney. However, for legal reasons, they cannot disclose it. As the amount concerned is over $1k, there are legal implications in both Sweden (Ongame) and Canada that prevent them from doing so. They can’t simply refund your money, there are felony charges that need to be pursued and legal ramifications if they ignore protocol. So they must follow legal protocol.

2. Accordingly, we need our authorities to drive the investigation. You need to contact the Canadian embassy, and have them either:
a. Contact Canadian authorities who will liaise and drive the investigation on your behalf,
b. Liaise themselves directly as your represenatitive authority
c. Liaise with Argentina authorities who will drive your investigation. This is NOT your preferred option. DEFINITELY work through Canada if possible.

3. Ongame will release all information to authorities upon request.

4. Towergaming support will be contacting you with contact details of Ongame representatives who the authorities should contact directly.

Since receiving this email I have been debating about what to do. After a lengthy discussion with my parents in which they have offered to lend me money for a flight back home to Calgary (where I have been fantasizing about running into Doug "The Toolbox" Lee at one of the local casinos), I have decided it is the best course of action to comply with Towergaming's advice.

I have called the RCMP multiple times and have received different advice each time. Sometimes they tell me they can't start an investigation without meeting me in person, sometimes they tell me they can, sometimes they give me a number of someone else to call and so on.

I think my best course of action is to get back to Canada and get the ball rolling on this.

I was also wondering if anyone can help read between the lines of the info Tower has provided my affiliate. It seems like good news to me in that they are taking this very seriously and that they are seeking the authorities to get involved. One reason I can think of is Ongame or Tower might have fraud insurance in the case of an identity theft.

Has anyone with knowledge of these things know anything about that?

Sorry I haven't updated the thread since receiving this information. My spirits were high once I received the email from my affiliate and I just didn't want to do anything to jinx it or to release any information that shouldn't be public but I don't think I am releasing anything spectacular right now anyways. I have also been lucky enough to receive a stake and have been grinding like crazy which has been going really really well. I have been playing on Betsafe and I think they heard about my situation and decided to hit the boomswitch for me upon depositing.

So my plan is now to fly back to Canada on the 6th of december and immediately meet with the RMCP with all of my information in order for them to start an investigation. Just wanted to thank you guys again for your support and interest, it has been really nice in this difficult time. Please, everyone, be very careful about your account and computer security to help ensure this never happens to you.

All the best,
splitz

I think that the emails that are usually sent to your email account once a withdrawal has been processed were deleted and possibly some other important emails to keep me in the dark.

My email password recovery option was probably not as secure as it could have been. However, I thought that if that is how the account is hacked then the password is reset and I shouldn't have been able to access my email account.

Hood has been an excellent companion here in Buenos Aires. He has been generous enough to treat me with beer on a few occasions to help lift my spirits. Thankfully my stake has been going really well and I was able to return the favour. He will try and BS you he is the pool champion, but he was playing by silly British rules and pool was really only the warm up for foosball and Marvel vs Capcom in which I dominated.

I also may have converted him into an NHL fan.

JHC!!! what a ****ing nightmare to have to go through.

also, it seems you are **** out of luck if you can't convince the Canadian government to "drive" it to the argentinian government to "drive" it again to recover your funds..

i would think this is going to be a monumental task and a very hard job. getting the argentinian govenment to pursue this is going to be your dead end i fear. i would imagine that this would be VERY low priority for them.

such a shame. sorry for you OP.

if you win this, you will have pulled off a major feat. fortunately, the amount involved is high enough to give it your best go. maybe i'll be wrong and this will be a no brainer. i certainly hope that's the case.

safe travels

I think that's why OP is going home. Theoretically there is no need for Argentina to be involved at all in the business.
