Considering the way PT3 and others extract data, by using the hand history, little or maybe even no modifications would actually be necessary for HUDs to continue to work. However, if the lobby is unlimited and it's really popular then HUDs at least short-term won't be anywhere near as valuable as they are in standard ring games. It's hard to get decent stats on someone you've only ever seen a few hands from.

Vs. regs you will get just as many hands playing Rush or Zoom as you would in a normal ring game after a few sessions.

From PTR twitter:
"@ivanbanmartins Zoom is still in Beta, we haven't seen the finished version yet. Our developers are investigating, we hope to add a HUD"

Well they told the obvious lol.

to the people saying that the more us players play the play-money beta test version, the quicker stars will release the real money version:

it won't work like that. a sample of say 1000 hands which they can get in like 15 mins will contain the same as 1million hands in terms of the stuff they need to know. is the rake correct. do players appear. technical stuff.

stars are smart enough to know that a tiny % of their player base actually knows what the beta/test software is and an even smaller % will actually be willing to sit and play for nothing for a few hours.

i am sure stars can test it in private with staff members or some kind of prop/volunteer players.

my point is.. stars are not going to think "oh look... only 8-60 people are bothering to play zoom poker. that means it is unpopular and the same would happen at real money and we should never release it!".

The true statement would be, "Hopefully it will be possible for HUDs to work with Zoom." So therefore, "hopefully it will be impossible" is false

Hi.

Does anyone know what stakes zoom will include after launch? I'm a micro donk so do you think they will go as low as 25nl?

I can't imagine that stars would ignore their most popular limits and if I remember correctly 25NL had the biggest lobby on Rush. Really hope O8 runs eventually.

Rush was very soft right about up to the point where HUDs started to work properly. After that the games pretty much dried up in no-time.

I can't blame PT/ HM for wanting to develop a HUD but I really hope Stars will try to put a stop to this. Say what you want, it's creating an unfair advantage over recreational players, it's bad for the poker economy, bad for the reputation of the game and Stars simply shouldn't want that.

Also, it won't dumb down the game. There was tons of history going on between players in Rush.

Well, this isn't true, because when a new hand is dealt with a new group of players around you how does PTR determine who is in each seat?

On RUSH they had to introduce screen-scraping to read the names and then displayed the appropriate HUD-stats in the usual way.

The only alternative is if Stars write the player's names to disc as soon as the hand is dealt and then PTR can use this - but I don't think this is done quickly enough. Pretty sure that wasn't how it was done for Rush.

Tried lure the PS support, but they are always smart :

"Thank you for your email.

I am not sure how useful will we be regarding any God-related questions, but I'll gladly try. If worst come to worst, you can always consult your local church representative or a priest.

As to Zoom poker, we expect it to be available for public beta testing in early March 2012.

At this stage we cannot provide more details, but stay tuned for more news!

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to write back, and thank you for choosing PokerStars.

Regards,

Yulianna
