I personally call it a set if one has a pocket pair and a matching rank on the board. If there are two on the board and one in hand, I call it trips. However, those of us who distinguish between those terms are few and far between, especially in casual conversation.

I just turned it on and saw the bad news. At first I thought it was a commercial that they have been showing for a while, 10minutes later I realized it was for real

At least the episodes are online, and PAD is still cash - Time to mute my tv so I don't have to hear nejad

GG Russ you were by far the best loose cannon so far too bad it didn't work out for you. You made the last two weeks on the show enjoyable to watch.

Can anyone tell me what happend tonight to the loose cannon?

I live in NYC and have cablevision, and i lost FOX tonight because of some stupid disagreement between cablevision and news corp (people who own fox)

Been watching the LC play the last two weeks, was hoping to see the conclusion!

Damn i guess this block started saturday at midnight since i saw nlcs might not be shown. He slowly got chipped down until he cold called barrys 3 bet with tt. He check called a small bet on k42r. Then check tank shoved 2.5x to 2/3 pot bet on 6 turn. Barry called with AA. Russ could not hit.

Thanks for the insight Russ. We were all rooting for you.

I don't know how to make a .gif file, like some of you guys use for avatars. But I have an idea for this one.

Remember the scene in Chariots of Fire, where Abrahams lost the race to Liddell? When Abrahams lost (the first time he had ever lost a race, btw), he sort of staggered off to the side, looked shocked, and threw his hand up near his face. And he kept replaying it in his head. It begins at 6:15 on this YouTube clip:

If someone would make a .gif of that scene and post it with Biggie's comment, I would appreciate it.

Spoiler:
he busted with pocket 10's after the flop, barry had aces, K came on the flop, he called flop, shoved turn.

Ok. I asked in the first week, and Russ didn't answer, so I'ma give it a shot now that there's no worries of a spoiler.

If you wanted to gamble with $16k, why not take it to a game you're rolled for, rather than put in on a table against top players in which the min buyin is 100k? This seems borderline degenerate to me.

Because he wasn't gambling with only $16k. He was gambling with $16k of his own, PLUS another $100k of someone else's money for a total of $116k to gamble with. That's a great deal, even if he figured to be an underdog against the table.

Also, if he cashed out, he wouldn't get to keep the whole $16k due to taxes. He'd get to keep only 10 or 11k. And he'd have no shot at winning the poker passport. If he won the passport, he'd have a chance at being set for life.

$10 or $11k is nice money, but not life-changing. Russ wouldn't be able to retire on that.

I kinda doubt that there's enough equity there to make playing the second week +EV, but I suppose that would have to be the rationale behind the decision. I mean, if I had $16k, and someone offered to stake me 100k to put it in a nosebleed game, I'd put a down payment on a minivan.

You're right about the second week being -EV for Russ. But the upside is so enormous that it's worth taking the chance of busting out IMO.

Heck, even Russ's wife was behind his decision. So why not go for it? I respect him for taking a shot.

Maybe some pro will give him a second shot, and back him in tournaments. I think he's got the discipline to go pro.

I guess I feel like by that rationale, buying lottery tickets is also a good idea.

I heard that it aired next weeks episode in some places! Where are you located? I know some people in Saskatchewan and Alberta that saw next weeks too. Here it was still Russ

I LOVED Barry G's 3bet bluff with J9o against Negreanu. DN is an absolute ****house in this week's Big Game. His online game may have improved (variance), but he is playing like absolute dog****. It's hilarious, and awesome, especially given his superbly tilting table chat with the LC and overall demeanor. So awesome to see him get owned.

In Calgary, on Sportsnet West HD they showed your first episode rather than the final episode with Russ. What channel were you watching it on? Your week looks like it will be entertaining with Viffer and Tony flirting with you.

But, back on the topic at hand, I was hoping to see Russ at least end up with more than last week, but he just seemed to lose his confidence about halfway through and the result was basically inevitable, especially since there was no Hellmuth on mega-tilt for the ill-advised double-up.

It's just too bad Russ wasn't willing to put it all on the line with the A8 against Lex and Daniel, but then decided to risk it with the Tens against Barry.

JFC it would be tough for Daniel to play worse then he did this week. That KJ hand was an abortion when he raised I was like wtf? why is he turning tp into a bluff, so glad Barry pwned him. His line deserved it. His flat call of a 1/3rd pot cbet with bottom set on a board with million draws was funny too. As many 3bets Daniel made this week, everytime he had a pair bigger than 10s or AK he was flatcalling raises lol.

Stapes commentary on the k high hand was awful. Lex wasn't floating Daniel he was playing K high for value all along against a tilted spazzer, it was pretty obvious.

Sucks for Russ. If he had open folded 1010 pf this week he'd have a 50k profit lol. 6 handed aggro game getting 10s against a bigger pair 3 times in 40 hands is pretty ul.
