Fastest internet connections in the world(Bloomberg)
14. USA
8. Bulgaria
5. Romania
"Can they really fix your laptop there?" - people in Eastern Europe are way more hardworking and knowledgable than people in the USA on average due to big segregation by income(social security sucks, minimal wage is awful, taxes however are very small and doing successful business is very rewarding). Education is on higher level as strange as it sounds to you and people know more languages(good luck with Romanian getting you anywhere). The smart people are pushed to work way harder than americans, i wonder if that`s part of the propaganda they constantly feed you cause a lot of people speak like that? I mean 0 offence, greetings!

I smiled at this too.

In any country internet speed depends where you are. In the blocks of flats they put LAN cables directly into the flat so at home it's super fast. Maybe ten years ago before the ISP went big and corporate they used to have a file-sharing server on the same network and you could download a whole film in matter of seconds even then - like you were copying it from one disk to another on the same machine (so I'm told, I obviously would never break ToS) so there are a load of E. European countries in the top twenty. On the other hand my office is in the protected old city centre and they can't really dig things up and lay cables so I have internet over GSM and it's not as fast. I usually download the podcasts from youtube and watch them offline.

Joey needs to come on the East European Girl Grind and find out it's not all like a Donatan video (though Eastern Europe is noted for its chess players)

Just finished listening to the Haseeb podcast and had a few take aways that I thought were interesting:

- Haseeb definitely appears smart and is brilliant at appearing authoritative. He is smart and manipulates well (these qualities aren't necessarily bad, many powerful and successful people carry themselves in this manner)

- My gf (who with bias I consider very smart and she's knowledgable and bookish about many topics) listened to some of it and her reaction was immediately 'this guy tries to sound a lot smarter than he is, some of the stuff he's saying is plain wrong and he's covering it up with the use of good language, a lot of the concepts he discusses at length are very simple and could be made clear to a child within seconds'. I thought this was a funny and interesting reaction from a 'normal' person.

- He's so good at speaking and portraying his thoughts that at times it's impossible not to think this guy is a bit of a boss, equally he's been blessed with a very soothing voice. That said, he has a holier than thou appearance and someone who has been mixed up in some shady things will also be considered dangerous and not to be trusted, I don't think he can ever shake this tag.

Overall I guess I found it one of the most interesting podcasts. Haseeb won't be up there as a likeable guest I don't think, perhaps this is a little harsh, but I think that's just the way it is. However, compared to the usual 'this guy is cool and crushes poker' approach that a lot of the pods have ones like this are really good to break the mould and keep it fresh.

Good work Joey, keep doing your thing.

BigA.

Noted and learning more about geography type things now. I meant that comment from the standpoint of I don't imagine there is an abundance of computer repair type of stores around the area Jungleman was staying in so it might be hard to get his laptop or the parts needed to fix it over there.

Might be an idea to look into getting on some other site reps. We will see how this one goes.

Would be insightful to hear from some people who used to work at Full Tilt back in the day when it went to ****. Some people that maybe helped start up Full Tilt further back in the day + any third party guys that worked on their marketing strategy during FTs best years. Payment processors etc. It's soo far back now ppl will prob be brutally honest about a lot of stuff(hopefully?) + degen stories will be good.

Spoiler:

TL;DR PM sent as I just typed paragraph after paragraph on the bet videos
Getting some people who used to work at the big sites back in the day is a good idea if it was possible to find out who they were. I don't have much of an idea of anyone.

I take notes on my phone, using the sticky notes on my computer and then you can compile them into Trello or something like Evernote. You can also get either on your phone as an app and take notes like that. I also have a small notebook next to my bean bag and bed that I use for notes.

Like a lot of professionals (and that includes poker coaches) who get paid by the minute/hour, there were 2x concepts at play, i) there is an incentive to talk longer than you need to as there is no incentive to stop, ii) he seemed to have a lot of stock answers that appear rehearsed. It was as if he'd said these things before.

The other pertinent q when bringing up poker coaches is iii) does all this talk mask/hide relevant info? He said a lot but is any of it useful?
