Mother of Dragons blew a bigger lead than the Falcons did.

I'm fine with the reluctant hero bit. It's the hollowness of his character that is sad times. He just doesn't have any interesting motivation or drive, and what little can be argued that he does have is always anemic at best. He also always looks like he's about to start crying.

It would be wonderful if Jon Snow were interesting, but he simply isn't.
You'd be crying like a little ***** in the corner if you went thru half the **** he did.

I really don't get the point of taking Casterly Rock tho, I don't see how it would be strategically useful if you want King's Landing. Dumb writing imo.

When Daenerys said to Jon you lost 2 brothers as well, I was annoyed he just nodded and didn't correct her saying 3. He doesn't know Bran is alive.

why are kinglanders cheering euron and cersei? and where did the Lannisters get this huge army after all the war they've been through? doesn't make sense

Ollena goes out like a true boss. Great scene.

They have always had a huge army. They had reserves and a large force taking back the reach.

Excellent episode. It also makes things far more interesting as Cersei/Euron-team is about matching in strength against Dany/Tyrion-team now.

Considering that Tyrion probably didn't know strength of Euron's fleet before plans were made (maybe largest continuation problem with series as it really couldn't have been _built_ to 1000 ship strength that time) I wouldn't consider original plan about striking Casterly Rock and KL too bad one. It was after all Euron's fleet which made reversal of fortunes possible (by destroying Dorne's leadership and roughly whole Targaryen fleet). Only major oversight imo. was not questioning how large support Ellaria Sand and Olenna Tyrell have on Martell / Tyrell bannermen as most Tyrell fighting capabilities seemingly was lost because of Tarly defection. Of course politically Tyrion is far more capable than as military strategist. It might very well be that at the next episode General Mormont (not Lyanna) is taking over military leadership of Dany's forces.

Now it looks like Dany doesn't have even enough ships to move his Dothraki forces around. Time to start really warm Jon up, who should probably be worried about Lannister strength which might march against Vale or the North.

Sad to see Olenna go, but I liked how she didn't hesitate. A boss of bosses.

Why would he think Bran is dead? He knows that Bran went north of the wall, and while he hasn't heard anything about him since, would have no reason to suspect he's dead.

Olenna somehow wins even as her entire house is destroyed.

Tyrion got outmaneuvered by big bro but he was still badass in this episode.

I was expecting/hoping that there would be sparks flying at the Dany/Jon meeting, it's kinda unrealistic for there not to be. I mean Jon Snow is great and all, but a total bore as a dude. He's oh so serious and singleminded but FFS, he's a man, he's had sex, Dany is a babe.

i was kinda worried about how the whole jon / dany thing would go down but i thought the writers handled it with nuance. shows both of their failures / lack of maturity pretty well. the fact that tyrion has to work out this compromise between them is kind of ridiculous, but also completely in keeping with the way their characters think and act thus far... also i think the show is setting us up for dany to need jon's help to win the war, in exchange for partnering up for the white walkers as soon as it's done.

When you have 10,000 ships, your fleet can be everywhere

I know they said 1,000 - but if you extrapolate that pace they could easily have 10k now.

Why not show her die? Feels like another miraculous survival or back to life.

I thought this was suggested and Jon shouted "There's no time!"

right, they're both kind of dumb and need convincing of things.

i could also see them "accidentally" figuring out jon's a targ by him hopping on a dragon or something. maybe they get ambushed while he's still there at d-stone.

I think it would just be gold for mercenaries. That is what Stannis got from them.

not after fighting Robb Stark. That's why they needed the Tyrell's to win the war. The Tyrell's have a larger army than the Lannisters. Speaking of which what happened to the Tyrell army?

And How does Euron happen to be in the right place twice?

The teleporting powers were multiplied after the dragons were born again that's how.
