You can either not help him ("gl dude," next time I recommend listing me as character reference) or just do the reference and explain that you help tutor him in finance sometimes and can be a general character reference.

I think perpetuating the "lie" is definitely a "DON'T DO IT, TARP" area. Nothing good can come of it. However, I disagree with some others that he can't get the job. They are checking his references so obv they are interested. They can decide to overlook how he listed it on his references or not, that's not KB's responsibility.

Anyway, my play would be to just lay out those options to my friend "no call or call but not as professor" and then move forward accordingly.

Hopefully he learns his lesson that to rule at life, it's good to just be authentic and genuine and then you never have to deal with these types of dumb issues. If you need to flat-out lie to get a job, you either a) shouldn't have that job, b) have a lot of room can improve your approach.

They've already seen this info. He should just banana up as well and see how they react to him misrepresenting your station on his resume.

That being said, agreeing to lie about being a reference is a terrible, terrible idea, especially saying you were a professor which is provably wrong. I wouldn't try and pose as someone at this point, if you haven't answered your phone or talked to anyone yet. Assuming he listed more than 1 reference it shouldn't screw him that much. If his one and only reference is a fake professor then he's probably screwed either way

Used my real name and listed my occupation as Finance Professor (should have been Professor of Finance...noobsauce). My vm is that automated "You have reached the voice mailbox of ###-###-####" so no info there or anything. But googling my name not only lists my FB but the second result is his FB lol

It's school camp. All 6th graders. Didn't you guys go to 6th grade camp? They call it science camp. I think literally about 99% of the 6th graders from her - school are there. Spring break is next week. This counts as school I guess.
