Re: Staking contracts,
I have been staked once and have myself staked many people for anything from mid stakes sngs, to the million, to the WSOP main and I have never written up or asked anyone to write a contract.

I suggest if you can't trust the person 100% then you really shouldn't be involved in staking them. That being said it can't hurt to get a legal document written up.

Definitely very tragic imo.

Yes. You don't need a lawyer or a contract made by a lawyer for things to be legally binding. But you should definitely make sure that things written down cannot be interpreted in different ways, so it's definitely important to be very specific. If things seem very very obvious with being stated, you should still have such things written down. Overly cautious is definitely the way to go.
Which is of course why lawyers make good money, cause people know they should be cautious and play it safe by hiring lawyers.
Although, problem with lawyers is that they do not always understand the content or requirement of a contract, which could lead to errors on their behalf.

Cliffnotes:

A friend of ours studying anthropolgy had a paper and she chose a group of us playing sundays + watching sports as her subject. We were high and getting crushed at said donkaments when she was observing/reporting us. I helped her tuesday night late before she handed it in and as a result observed my own behavior for a couple hours to help with slang in her transcript plus answered her questions.

I woke up @ 6pm wednesday to my phone ringing; 6 missed calls from the guy who needed me to email him raps tickets. When I emailed them, in my inbox was the polished copy of her paper. I read it over 'breakfast' and then frantically started selling action and getting money in the right spots for mtts. With the paper fresh in my mind my thoughts kept wandering to my behaviour.

I ft'd my 2 favorite mtts and came 24th in the ftops 300r. Having 60% of myself sold off made me want to experience the rush of going deep in a huge tourney but with all of my own action. An unlit pipe from the previous night was on the table for a couple hours into the mtt session, and I smoked very sparingly throughout the night.

Usually I would be so pissed with a 9th, a 3rd, and a 24th and mumble about running bad. When lastnight was over I was thinking 'wow that was fun, and super motivating.'

Probably going to grind more and smoke less now. Think thats a good cliffs

Wow Scotty, once again I read your whole post and have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. High, poker, some chick writing a paper - after that timelines, motivations, details get very very murky.

I've heard that they're coming out with a Rosetta Stone soon for Scottspeak. Preview.

+1

I still enjoy reading his posts tho

Ok I'm going to try my hand at Scottspeak. Also Scotty has indicated to me he would like to find ways to make his story telling more accessible to the general public, so see bold below:

At this point I feel pretty clear on what's going on. She watched you guys get high and play donkaments, then on Tuesday you helped her finalize the paper and in the process got some insight into your own behavior from a 3rd-party perspective.

I woke up @ 6pm wednesday to my phone ringing; 6 missed calls from the guy who needed me to email him raps tickets.
Ok here's where we start to go off the rails a little. I realize chronologically it kind of follows that we're in Wed. morning now. But the reader is a little perplexed, wondering who "the guy..." is. Were we supposed to know him already? Also how do raps tickets tie into a story about an anthropology paper on poker degens?

When I emailed them, in my inbox was the polished copy of her paper.
Ok, so rereading I realize the whole raps thing was just to get you to your inbox. The first time through I was totally confused by this point. I think you could and should probably leave out the whole raps thing, waking up, as it doesn't really advance the story too much.

I read it over 'breakfast' and then frantically started selling action and getting money in the right spots for mtts. With the paper fresh in my mind my thoughts kept wandering to my behaviour.
Again, the first time through I'm still kinda confused by the raps thing, now you're going crazy selling action and I'm trying to figure out how that relates to the paper. I think you could just say something like 'going through my normal MTT routine, and my thoughts kept wandering...' this keeps the focus on the actual storyline.

Again, at this point as a reader I feel completely lost. What does any of this have to do with the paper?

Usually I would be so pissed with a 9th, a 3rd, and a 24th and mumble about running bad. When lastnight was over I was thinking 'wow that was fun, and super motivating.'
*What* was super motivating? I'm guessing... the experience with the paper? ... and that made you smoke less weed and take your beats better? Pretty much lost here. I mean if I really sit down and do a logical analysis I guess I can figure out what you mean. But you don't want your reader to have to do that. You want them to be immersed in the story, following along beat for beat.

Probably going to grind more and smoke less now. Think thats a good cliffs

In summation basically just assume your reader knows nothing, try to put yourself in their shoes, and write accordingly.

I HATE cleaning my fishtank. I am bad at self-motivating. Therefore if I don't have a picture of a clean fishtank available (you might have to ask, doesn't count if I just forget to post it) by 5pm PT, I will ship $100 on Stars to the first person who asks.

Why don't you have a picture of a clean fishtank?

Do I win?

Wat?

Because it's dirty and covered with green algae.

Is it 5pm PT yet? No. Therefore you do not win.

I agree with this 100%. Ironically, I've been forcing myself the last two months to 8 or 9 table tiled and I'm starting to improve. It was ugly at first tho.
