I would guess the reasoning goes about like this. He doesn't play online poker and doesn't want to endorse it. It doesn't have to be complicated.

If I was already guaronteed a big payday I wouldnt be sponsered by UB, even for a couple mil more. If my kids were starving, well yeah sure. But if I had enough to take care of things than self respect would be far more important to me than the money.

I'm guessing for whatever reason Moon feels about online poker the why I do towards UB. I also get the feeling Moon is a pretty basic privete guy who has no desire to do the meet and greet crap any sponser would want.

Moon as a WSOP champ would be a disaster, maybe worse than Yang.

I gave him a couple of recommendations and he had a few from others. He talked with them all and went with Jon little.

I think it's a good move. fwiw if i was in his spot, i would only consider a PS sponsership.

He is going in to this with so much equity, there's a diminish return for taking the 100k or whatever you get for covering yourself with some logo.

It might also effect any deals post-game.

rumour has it cada got 1mil for a year deal. Moon is going in with a ton of chips, so i'd have to assume his deal would be more than that. Its not turning down 100k, its turning down 1mil+

1. Can easily be answered with any ICM program.
2. It can by unobservant or unprepared individuals. Other, more observant individuals, would either credit it to being a good call, or have some specific [possibly, but not necessarily bad] reason for being tight enough that this call is -EV for you.
3. They should, but many are not. They know that it is -EV for the game and likely -EV for their own mentality, but ego control is non existent in these [incredibly standard] situations. This isn't the first time that Dave or other regulars have had call-outs/gripes with fellow 2p2ers, and I guess it's not going to be the last. All that usually results from these topics being brought here are flame wars.

I'd say it's best not to indulge those regulars that instigate issues like these and that have severe leaks in their thought processes and approaches toward playing poker on any 'serious' level (however one might define the term). Probably just as -EV for you to help them out by continuing to give them opportunities to see and correct flawed behavior as it is for them to be reacting this way in the first place.
