My 11yo got me into Dr. Who - at first just to watch it with her. She is now sort of into Lost. I've never seen a minute of that show and always thought it sounded terrible, but I suppose it's possible I end up sucked in. Once you start watching a show it can be hard to quit, even if it's not very good. e.g. The Walking Dead.
the first 2 seasons of lost were great, it just got dumb in season 3 and I stopped watching.

interestingly enough, the first 2 seasons of lost were overseen by jj abrams. then he left to make mission impossible. then the show went off the rails. then he came back for the last season but it was too late

Taking the romance too seriously and that being a problem is kind of common for a comedy series.

A great exception to that I think is The Office (American Version). The Pam and Jim relationship stuff was great.

Marathoned my way through the rest of the modern Dr. Who on netflix. I went 11th, then 9th, then 10th doctors so I haven't seen here for a while and I miss her so here's Amy Pond.

The British version of the Office was pretty ****ing hilarious. If you can take that drawn-out, uncomfortable humor. Think it was only like ~12 shows total, so quick viewing.

Think that one of Cheers most impressive accomplishments was the successful development of new characters throughout the show's history. Every show tries, few seem to pull it off well.

Though maybe that's a redundant point, since it'd be off the air after 5 or 6 seasons otherwise

Cheers had an awesome intro tune.

btw, anyone that doesn't know the story should read about Woody Harrelson's dad, pretty interesting.

Sick clean sweep of gold, silver and bronze on 500m speed skating :-)

What's even sicker and pretty disgusting is that the guy in 2nd place was listed as winner for first 10 seconds after he crossed the finish.
So for 10secs he thought he had pulled it off and was olympic champion only to get a full punch in the head seconds later. Pretty disgusting mindfokk.

My gf's family was watching, I watched with them. That was a terrible finish.

Amazing for Holland being speed skating bosses but as an American, that was god awful boring.

Racing/Time trial events are not enjoyable as an observer for myself.

Not just that, it's a lack of complexity. The most interesting things about the sport is done behind doors. Training and designing of new gear are the most interesting things.

Sure the technical motion in which they start and take turns is interesting, however it gets dull fast.

I just can never get into those sports. They are fun to participate but terrible as far spectating goes.

In a world built for entertainment, I'm surprised they have not switched from time trials to tournament bracket. But, hey, where else would all these new performance enhancing drug companies get to show off their abilities. With the past few years of all the people coming out claiming to have used performance enhancing drugs on the biggest stages it makes everything seem less impressive. I understand the drugs only do so much and the human actually does the hard work. However it is deceptive and it is annoying to not know what is real and what is fake. Just kind of taints everyone in the sports.

True Detective on HBO right now on Sunday nights might be GOAT TV show. It's only 8 episodes (4 have aired). Mathew McConaughy and Woody Harrelson are killing it as detectives in Louisiana investigating a creepy murder. It's better than most Oscar nominated movies so far imo.

The Olympics isn't quite the same when you have a job to go to :-(

I'm still riveted to the curling and cross country skiing though.

As boring as curling is, it´s my favorite olympic sport to watch.

Of course you're entitled to your preference in terms of sports, but I'm not sure how you are relating this to doping usage. As if Football, Baseball, Soccer etc have been clean..
Whenever there is a lot at stake people are going to look for ways to cheat.

More ironically, speed skating has had only one big doping scandal in the form of Claudia Pechstein, who is treated like a complete outkast by the other athletes.

I'm considering hiring someone and paying them nearly as little as possible to do difficult, dangerous and sometimes demeaning labor. Interested?

sounds like the job I'm leaving tomorrow, and the one I'm starting the 24th. If it was in Boise I'd be willing, apparently.
