I wanted to be appalled by it all, but they do it all the time and the entire family must have agreed with it so it is what it is and they'll do it again. That said, Charlotte wasn't able to play her part.

It (the Diva's title contract signing) was the final segment of the show (yes, seriously).

Charlotte was mostly rambling and continuously brought up her family, including her brother who died of an overdose a couple years ago. Paige said something about how he must not have had that much fight in him. Charlotte then snapped and they did the standard contract signing bit where the competitors start brawling. Show ended there. Charlotte never actually did sign the contract on air.

SarcasticRat hit the nail on the head a few posts back. They really tried to shoehorn two months worth of heat into a 10 minute segment.

It really wasn't good, but I didn't hate it as much as some of the others here. I actually preferred it to DIVASREVOLUTION DIVASREVOLUTION DIVASREVOLUTION DIVASREVOLUTION DIVASREVOLUTION DIVASREVOLUTION DIVASREVOLUTION DIVASREVOLUTION DIVASREVOLUTION.

Well, not the entire family. Charlotte and Reid's mother posted this:

"@WWE @StephMcMahon @VinceMcMahon @TripleH WWEWriters really, that lazy! #CheapHeat #disgusting

While the WWE takes some blame on that, it's more on Charlotte for saying yes without clearing it with her mother. I feel horrible for the mother reading that, but WTF Charlotte?

Imagine the internet reaction if they had let Neville beat Owens.

I think the wwe takes almost all of the blame for it. I can just imagine the conversation." Ok you bring up your brother,Paige says blah blah, you jump on her. Trust us it's gonna be great." With Charlotte being relatively new, and the new champion, does she really have any room or pull to say no I don't want to do that?

I don't imagine them being that evil. It's more likely Charlotte or Ric decided to use it themselves. Unless.......WWE was also responsible for his death in the first place just so they could use it at a time like this.

There's no way that segment gets done without Charlotte signing off.

Either way she's in her first 6 months of wwe why not save that storyline for later.

Ric Flair was not told about the Reid segment in advance per his podcast. He says he is afraid to voice his opinion on it out of concern for his daughter's career.

Definitely appreciate that ric understands he has to stay out of it tho. Sucks that him and the mother had to watch it with no warning tho they probably were excited about Charlotte main eventing raw but had no clue it would be under those conditions.

Okay, that completely changes my view on things. That's really ****ed up. Explains the pretty bad acting by Charlotte (and probably Paige too).

That is really, really ****ed up. I still blame Charlotte more than anyone because I still can't believe a company would force someone to do that or even imply they'd be punished if they didn't. Although Ric's fear of being vocal does hint that there's still some of that there or at least a perception of it. If Charlotte, in any way, was uncomfortably forced into that, whoever it is (even if it's Vince) has to go. Of course, if that's the truth, we will never find out while she's still employed there unfortunately.

I mostly blame the writers for being seemingly unable to write a decent women's storyline and then resorting to such clownshow tactics because they failed to get any heat on the wrestlers (who I think have been doing a good job with the material they have).

Vince is looking at the Internet backlash of the Charlotte promo and gleefully saying, "we got them talking about the Divas! Told you it will work."

It's sort of symptomatic of not having more than like two story lines of ANY kind. And I'm even counting the ****ty story lines like "Lana left Rusev for Ziggler". That blew chunks but hey, they tried something.

The only thing worth watching is New Day, and that is solely because their shtick is entertaining regardless of who they are up against, not because you want to see New Day vs. whoever.

I think I put a lot of that on the need to script every line; it's hard to have people do more than one or two coherent story lines without a fleet of writers (I don't know how many they have but one per guy is probably needed and I'm sure they don't have that). If they could say to half of them "here's why you're going to be fighting in two months, work it in" and let them run that would go a long way. Giving the ones that are too dumb to do that managers (who can also be the writer) solves the rest.

That also would require two months advance planning though.

Here's the thing. What does 'forced' mean? The main thing Ric brought up was that Charlotte's only been on the roster for 3 months, so if Ric is afraid to say anything imagine what Charlotte would feel without any specific pressure!

@DWetzel

Apparently the writing staff is 20-25 people, the problem is it all gets screened through Vince. So to keep their jobs they have to make him happy.

Ric is close with HHH. I don't see him having a hard time talking to HHH/Steph, so it has to be somebody else that he's not comfortable with, right?

This is a pure guess on my part, but I think HHH/Steph are the biggest champions for the women. Maybe they told the girls that they have to come up with something HUGE to justify being put in the last spot and this is what Charlotte/Paige came up with and she was afraid to tell her family about it. This, to me, makes more sense then Vince or Dunn coming up to them and saying "You're going on last. Oh, and by the way, about your dead brother....."
