Also called Luchas winning but there was a point in the match I didn't think Luchas could recover. Was good stuff.

My lack of familiarity with the product probably helped my enjoyment of the match if that result was predictable at all. I had no idea who was going to win, so it was easier to get fully invested.

No LKJ, everyone wanted the Luchas to win, but the Bucks just as easily could have pulled it off as they have many times before. I called them winning too, but wouldn’t have been surprised by the Bucks retaining. They built it well. 10/10 spectacular match, I’m so glad nobody died.

Yeah, my spidey senses actually had it as 60/40 in the Bucks' favor, but again I don't necessarily have a feel for the company. It definitely felt like they went with the right result.

Thunder Rosa will get another big feud with Britt down the line. Right now wasn't the time for it, so it makes sense she didn't win.

As for this match. I love Chris Jericho. I really, really wish they didn't add this retirement stipulation to the match. With that said, MJF needs to win, or the last year of booking will have been for nothing.

That was great.

The reasons I thought it was clear Lucha Bros would win was:

1) Having a big PPV without a title change is lame so at least 1 title should change. Kenny Omega is going to lose to Hangman so his title won't change. Britt Baker is super popular and won recently so her title won't change, especially when they have done so little to build up the Statlander/Baker feud. Same with Miro. He is a fairly new champ and AEW does long championship reigns and they haven't really built up the feud much. So that leaves the Bucks as the remaining title to lose. They've been champs for a long time too, though admittedly there hasn't been that big of a build up for the Lucha Bros, since they just won that eliminator tournament to get their shot.

2) When booking a big match, the eventual challenger always wins their build up matches to the championship match, to make them seem like a bigger threat. The most recent notable example of this is Christian Cage beating Omega for the Impact title, before he will almost assuredly lose the championship match. Usually it happens on Dark or Dark Elevation. So the fact that the Lucha Bros LOST their most recent match seemed like a big tip off that they would win.

3) And also the Lucha Bros, along with the Bucks are the most entertaining tag teams in wrestling today and they are super popular so it would just be a great result to have them win.

My reasoning's much shorter. I just figured the heels were due to get their comeuppance and if they won a cage match, then what? And like you said, it's been a long time coming for a changing of champs.
