Nitpick: they were on a lake. Cleveland has no beaches and this was filmed very close to the arena. It was a bizarre thing to name it.

I hear what you’re saying. But to nitpick further, a beach is just sand by water.

Winter Is Coming has been at Florida and Texas. Maybe they intentionally use ridiculous locations for the themed events.

I hope that's the end of the feud and they don't continue it like the MJF v Jericho feud that had MJF win multiple rematches until Jericho won the final match at the PPV.

MJF seems like the frontrunner for the next world champion at this point. He has a great character and mic work, he's super popular, he's good in the ring and it makes sense to alternate between face and heel champions. Other contenders would be Danielson, Cole, Malakai Black, Andrade and maybe Moxley if they want to have a repeat world champion.

Supposedly some big announcements going down tonight. My money's on Jeff Hardy showing up. Either way, I'm in for Hangman.

Pretty good edition of Dynamite. Moxley looked great in the ring. Probably better than I've ever seen him.

I'm not familiar with NJPW stuff, so I have no idea who Jay White is, but with that said, it feels like they blew that debut. It felt really flat anyway, let alone the timing of it when they announced the mystery debut ladder match was coming up next. That oddness aside, really good episode.

Shoutout to Serena Deeb, she shined this episode. Great promo and squash, this new character is awesome and hopefully she keeps getting a push.

I’m also not familiar with White. Any chance you could give us the lowdown on Switchblade?

Back in 2016 and shortly after he came in the company he took Shinsuke's spot (semi-main event and sometimes main eventer) after Naka went to WWE. I thought he was bad and pretty much stopped watching NJPW after AJ/Shinsuke left in Jan 2016 and Tanahashi was too banged up to be the top guy. I assume he's a lot better than what I saw in 2016.

tl;dr: I know very little about Jay White.

Also, Sammy should never ever talk. Stick to the card gimmick instead.

Genuinely one of the best heels in the world imo, not MJF style heel but more of an oldschool works a slow match and does everything he can in the match to get under the opponents skin. As pumped as I am to see him in AEW I don't think he'll really get to shine in TV matches so hoping he gets to show what he's all about if he gets a singles match on revolution.

Can cut amazing promos as well - https://youtu.be/e8X7xPqoJ1M?t=280 (4:40 start if it doesn't work)

If you're going to link a Jay White promo, it should be this one (he starts talking around 8:00):

It's basically the start of Hangman's AEW character.

Very true that's a certified banger and relates to AEW

That sounds promising. I also new nothing about him, but am now pretty excited. AEW has shown a willingness to put on 30-60 minute matches on Dynamite if the workers warrant it, so it could be a possibility on TV if he catches on.

wow I listened to Dave's podcast earlier today and he pretty much called this since he's been working without a contract since early Dec. I wonder if he stays in wrestling. I assume he goes back to WWE because that'd be a ton of $$$.

There's so much at play with this. Really fascinating.

-From an optics standpoint Cody is going to look horrible returning to WWE. Whether it's fair or not, in my mind Cody is essentially the face of the 'Never WWE' mindset. I thought he'd be the stone last person to ever go from AEW to WWE, not the literal FIRST.

-Have to imagine if the WWE reports are true he is going to debut imminently. It's mania season and you gotta assume Vince wants him in a program.

-Probably the weirdest thing about this is that Cody has two television shows (both renewed AFAIK) with Turner, so is AEW going to be forced to promote Cody? Imagine a commercial during Dynamite for this weeks Rhodes to the Top episode chronicling Cody's road to Wrestlemania? Lol. Wild

MJF dropping a god-tier promo
The AEW Thread Quote
02-23-2022 , 10:06 PM
It was good but realistically a promo that should've been dropped before they ever fought. He was establishing why he wants to fight Punk and they're already a couple weeks from the blow off match.

Lights off thing was weird. Second time it happened the announcers were caught off guard expecting more but it was just their outro. Maybe clue in the announcers on that so people aren't disappointed.
