Has the new hotel changed the poker room numbers? I would prefer to stay onsite and walk/take the shuttle but the old hotel was expensive and always booked during the weekends.

Have you seen any improvments along those lines?

Why has Winstar never offered a 1-2 PLO game? Or have they?

I really want to play PLO but the 2-5 game terrifies me. I would love a mix game of 1-2 PLO & 2-5 NLH.

They've been running a 1-2 PLO/PLO8 game recently, I think.

I've seen that and heard it's a fun table. I just can't stand PLO8.

People play PLO8 REALLY REALLY bad (myself included half the time). If you can play that half of the game even somewhat competently, you'd ruin the game in like 5 hours.

I'll get on the interest list with you.

Anyone else miss the $500 splashpot every 30 minutes promotion they used to do on New Year? Any promotions going on tonight/tomorrow?

I just spent three days playing poker at Winstar. I played mostly 1/2 with a little bit of 2/5 mixed in. I played 31 hours and won just short of 2k. Before going I posted a question of whether to play 1/2 or 2/5. Here are my thoughts on the difference at this particular casino.

1/2: This game is really soft at Winstar. There is a nice mix of (mostly) older nits, a few drunks spewing money and a good amount of players that are generally clueless on how to play anything more than straight ABC poker. While the max buy-in is only $200, there is plenty of reloading so you can build a stack. I found that the key here is building a stack and then using it.

2/5: I had two very different experiences at the 2/5 tables. One day I was at a table with a couple of other thinking/competent players and the rest of the table was similar to what you would find at 1/2. At this table there was a guy who gave away around 3k in about 45 minutes. Another day I was at a 2/5 table with what seemed to be a lot of regulars, some of which were waiting for the 5/10 game to open. These players were generally all competent and thus the table was much more difficult. I actually left this table for a 1/2 table which I found much more profitable.

Overall, the room is great and there it is a good place to make some money. Pick your tables wisely as there are plenty to choose from and you should quickly be able to find one to your liking.

Might drop by in the next couple of weeks. What's the rake and current promos for this place?

Just wanted to share that I used the two-night coupon and it was everything advertised - hotel was very comfortable and it didn't cost me a penny.

I was there Sunday Dec 29 and Monday Dec 30.

Sunday at about 6pm, the poker room was pretty full and there were 4 to 6 names on all waiting lists.
Monday at about 5pm, the poker room was equally if not more full and there were 8 to 12 names on all waiting lists.

If anyone would like additional details, fell free to ask here or PM.

EDITED to add that I see a lot of questions about staying in Gainesville. If you have your own car, I recommend it - it's like a 10 minute drive each way, tops. And if you're not particular about motels, you can stay in a hotel like the Budget Inn for about $35 a night.

I've seen a lot of questions about the bus system too. I've taken it a couple times and it's been positive, punctual and comfortable. Just go to the webpage www.winstarworldcasinoexpress.com and check the schedule.

1. TBH, not sure but know they are expensive and I stay in a hotel room every week for work. "The Inn" is cheaper but best reasonable rate is city of Gainsville which is 5 min south. There are probably specific hotels listed within this thread.

Everyone has it on their phone but those who don't have smartphone this is the internet option. 5-10 Wed-Sun and lower (2/5, 1/3, 1/20 every day. Limit is non existent. 1/2/5 PLO on Fri-Sat and PLO 2/5 being spread more often.

Really? And what does round of each game mean? They have a round of plo and then 8 or better?

THANK YOU so much. I still have an old "dumb phone" so the URL will come in handy.

I went and played yesterday for 2 hours. Made about 200 bucks playing 1-2.

I was on the wait list for 1-2 mix plo the whole entire time.

There is a 5-10 game running right now. Anyone know if it is any good?
