It's been increasing. Typically < 180 and > 150. My guess, about 170.

Had a good night last night after waiting 2 hours for a seat. Hopefully Bag doesn't "bust the room" anytime soon, I like playing there...

Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

I haven't been to Winstar in a while, playing other OK casinos, but what the heck has happened to this room on Saturdays? I got to the poker room at 2pm, and the 1-2/1-3 lists had 150 names on them (combined, but still) and there were at least 50 names on the other lists. Meanwhile, there are 10+ empty tables. And when they did finally get some games started, there were no chip runners available to get chips, so people were just sitting there. I got seated eventually at the 5-10 LHE table and the dealer told me I should just go get chips from the cage myself. Naturally, they had 2 open stations there with a line of 7 or 8 people waiting, including the chip runners. (Also, to the two geniuses that tried to cut and then were baffled that there was a line, did you think the "line" of people right in front of the cage is just standing there because we share a combined love of live-action geometry and being near the cage?)

And yes, I am quite aware of the concept of them needing dealers to open tables. Nevertheless, not being prepared to have a full room on Saturday in one of the biggest poker rooms in the world is ridiculous.

I was there on Mar 1st (Saturday). A dealer made the comment that 8 dealers had called in sick that day. The weather was really nice. Other than that, I arrived about 11:30am and the 2/5 wait was only 3-deep.

Is that tournament the cause for shortage of cash tables?

Is there on the 8th. The 2-5 list had 30ish people on it that day.

The tournament is probably the cause for the shortage of dealers, but that seems like it would be a foreseeable consequence.

Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

This past Saturday, when I was there, there didn't seem to be anything the employees could do to make it a better experience. All the tables appeared to be in use and as tournament tables broke they didn't take long at all to put them to use as cash tables. They had plenty of dealers, plenty of chip runners, and the people at the check in desk were on top of getting players into empty seats. The poor girl calling names for seats seemed to never even take a breath, lol. Pretty well run for the crowd they had imo.

Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

The new Saturday tournaments have been a huge success and they are definitely filling up all the tables and ending up with huge waiting lists for the cash games similar to a Saturday during the River series.

I recommend you either go to the casino before the tournament starts or way later in the day if you don't want to wait on a list. Since the games and wait lists can be found on the Bravo Poker App (Android/iPhone/Website) you may want to check it next Saturday to determine the optimal time to go up.

Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

I recommend getting a hotel room in Gainesville. It's about ten miles away on I-35. Lots of options of low to mid price places, good rates on Hotwire. The Winstar properties are overpriced and honestly, it's faster to drive from Gainesville and park right outside the poker room than to walk from the tower.

Re: Winstar World Casino (Thackerville, OK)

I've stayed at the Super 8 in Gainsville and it was pretty decent. I had no real complaints. I think the price my buddies and I paid was around $55 for the night. It is a very short jaunt to Winstar and a property that I would stay at again if I had plans to visit again.

What sort of limit holdem action can I expect on a Thursday and Friday night? I've heard 20/40 runs on Fridays.

Maybe you posted in wrong thread? I've never seen a 20/40 on any day at Winstar (Never seen a 10/20 either). I've seen 5/10 which is a red chip game and apparently plays slightly bigger than the 4/8. There is also a 10/20 Omaha H/L on Thursdays I believe (used to run with promo/sometimes now with promo eliminated).

The older regs/dealers say years ago they ran a 10/20 game that was great but I don't think it has run in the new poker room.

You more likely to get a 10/20 NL game than a 10/20 LHE going these days.

Damn. That's unfortunate. Was hoping for something bigger than 4/8 or 5/10. A friend told me about a 20/40 game... but maybe he meant Choctaw? I'm not sure.

There's a 20/40 game at Horseshoe in Shreveport every weekend. Really good game. That's probably what you're thinking of. I'll be at Winstar this weekend. We can start an interest list and try, but with 1/3 lists 80+ deep on Saturdays I doubt they'd start one.
