So you now earn no comp $'s at all?

Or you mean you earn the normal $1/hr comps on your TR balance for poker play but they used to give you comps for free without taking them from your $1/hr poker and other earnings.

Correct. You still earn a $1 an hr in comps. Horseshoe Tunica used to not charge you any TR points when you got food. Now, you will have to use your TR balance or pay for it out of pocket if you don't have a balance.

We have been told that Horseshoe Tunica was the last CET property not to charge your TR balance when you got food. I am not sure if that is true or not.

I actually stuck my head in the Hollywood poker room the other day. It is a nice enclosed space. Too bad they can't get any games other than $3/6 going.

That all depends on Dominic's desire (or lack of) to attract bigger games.

I heard they hit the bad beat jackpot a couple weeks ago at Hollywood, like 90 thousand or something. I see people ordering food at the table while they are playing, is it still free. When did Horseshoe get so damn picky about their rules in tournaments. Man last week when I was there it was somebody getting a penalty every few minutes. Old man went to fold preflop his cards flipped over, one round penalty. Guys phone rings, he takes it out to silence it, one round penalty.

Very sad. This was one of the main advantages that really separated the Tunica shoe from other casino poker rooms. It was our choice of "destination poker" trips for the last several years. Now it will be just one choice of many.

Probably tougher on the locals. They have nowhere else to go except the Hollywood or the dog track.

Didn't the Harrahs/Caesars beancounters implement this once before a few years ago?

Oh well -- when Caesars emerges from bankruptcy, maybe things will be better - or worse.

I think it was implemented very briefly at some point last year. But GoldStrike was still open, so it didn't stick.

Can't really see it being that big of a deal unless you are eating 10+ meals a week down there.

This. While it's a nice perk I can pack a lunch or spend a few bucks for food. Having good games and efficient dealers is all that matters to me.

RIP Tunica

Used to make 2 trips a year over there, 7 hours one way, driving past Bossier City, just to stay at the Strike or Shoe in ultra cheap rooms and pig out every meal on free food. My wife and I would take a trip and then myself and 3 poker buddies would all go during the WPO to play cash games. Last time we were there we could see the writing on the wall and knew we'd be hard pressed to make it back. You take out free food, nearly free rooms and the option of playing nearly any game you want in your choice of 5 rooms and it's just not worth the drive. Bossier City is an hour away and it's drying up too compared to the old days.

Headed down to horseshoe this weekend and ran like God. Had quads 3 times, too bad my opponents never had quads with me. Seems like about the same amount of people at 1-3 as my trip about two months ago. One guy kept it interesting Monday morning by getting drunk and threatening the floor and threatening to "flip the fuc&@!& table". All that over someone at the table not being able to short buy for 60... even tho the table specifically says 100 min. Winning money always makes up for it!

Headed to Tunica this weekend.
We are going to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl next Tues and the Hous/Memphis game on this Friday.

Staying at Gold Strike so likely to play most all of our poker at Horseshoe but will check out Southland Park at least one day.

Will share info when we get back.

Maybe its just for the dumb kids coming to the WSOP-C event. That's what the St Louis Harrahs used to do.

Is this just during the WSOP Circuit event or permanently?

These are good questions. I don't know. However, I think complaining and bluff-raising (telling the management F yall I'm not coming back) may be influential. /shrug

The Horseshoe has a virtual monopoly now over the Tunica poker market. They would not be doing their fiduciary responsibility if they did not raise the rake to as high as they can get it. I will not be surprised to see it go up to $6 max rake in no time at all. What else are poker players in Tunica gonna do? Nothing. They can either play at the Horseshoe or not play at all. And the parent company of the Horseshoe is bankrupt they have to make as much money as possible; all Tunica slot players know the Horseshoe has the worst paying machines in all off Tunica by a very wide margin.

There's still one other poker room so there is no "virtual monopoly". And it's laughable to think that Harrah's continued nickel & dime cheapskate strategy is ever going to dig them out of the hole that their collective genius has dug for themselves.
