Ok so there is something going on with how you guys are being comped from what I understand its some misunderstanding about how average bets in poker works. We are fixing it, some meeting this morning.

Just curious, but does the 5/5 game run every weekend? Or every Saturday? And is it the same group of regulars each time?

Played it for an hour or so, and seemed like a nice group of players, including about 6 regs who all play pretty tight and smart. It seemed like a fun game, but not a game where much $ could be made.

Ok..was down again this past saturday and got David to fix it and he said he did but nothing in my account for the new year yet, from either the 3rd or the 10th. any idea when we can expect this to be resolved?

does a 2/4 table usually make it through the night and into the morning on weekdays or does only the 1/2 game have that potential?
01-12-2009 , 07:08 AM
2/4 ends at like 5 or 6am typically now that the bbj is high
01-12-2009 , 12:20 PM
BBJ update?

That link is usually a few days old.

That is absolutely wrong. The last time I was missing points (for about 8 hours of play) I found a toll-free number for Total Rewards and called it. The woman I spoke to actually contacted a poker room manager that I had spoken to and he verified my play. The points were in my account the next day.

This has happened to me several times...only at Showboat. The other times I had the problem rectified via email. I love playing there but they really need to fix the comp system.

Now...the question I know you're going to ask next...what's the 800#? Like an idiot, I never wrote it down, and I don't remember how I found it but I'm going to try to find it again. If I do, I'll post it here for everyone.

Played in the 11 this morning, placed 5th, but I really have to make some complaints about how the tourney was run... It's a shame too cause it was my love Yessica who was running the show. Three issues that I really saw

1. Every time the blinds went up, it took at least 3 minutes in for them to actually announce the blind raise.

2. It took WAY too long to even out the tables. We actually had to stop the dealers at the point where there was less then 20 left with three tables of 5 6 and 7.

3. Last one who be Fabion? Fabio? At the final table it took almost an EXTRA 10 minutes after the break to color up the chips. It was the final table and we all took the 10 minute break and STILL had to wait.

Now some of these things were small, but the blind raises and the evening out of the tables really hit some people hard when the blinds were larger.

There seemed to only be about 3 floor people at the time so I can see if they were a bit overwhelmed, but it just was not run well the entire day.

Yea this is a direct result of having too much to do. Again, no excuses tho. Just call the blinds and go about what you were doing.

I talked with my pit manager today, things are being worked out as we speak. I believe it will be fixed tom. I also think that (dont quote me) but peoples time will be fixed for the last 6 months? Not 100% on this tho.

Rod and Anton, thanks for getting back to me.

Anton, although obviously the number would have been great, I tried sending an email through Harrah's website and I'll keep everyone posted on how that works out.

Hopefully management will have the problem fixed soon!

Does this mean that somehow they'll go through the records and restore all time that should have been entered but wasn't? I only need a few more points last year for platinum, and I know they didn't credit me for everything I played.

just got another rom for Saturday night. Looks like I'll be donating more money in tournaments at Showboat this weekend.

i told you this was from word of mouth so I have no other info and I may have misunderstood what she was telling me, I promise when I have more info I will post it here first.

I was at the Showboat this past weekend and figured I'd post a quick trip report. As always, the dealers at the Showboat were excellent. I played for a total of about 6-7 hours and never had a bad dealer. All the dealers were competent and fast and kept the games moving along well.

Friday night was actually slightly busier than Saturday night. One thing that was bad - on Friday night, around 10:30 PM, the wait list for 1-2 NL was about 20 people long. I came back 15 minutes later and it was even longer. As a result, I actually decided not to play. The list was clear in another 2 hours, but I was tired and figured I'd play the next day. I am guessing the long list was because of a shortage of dealers.

There were eight 1-2 NL games Friday night and a few 2-4 games. I am pretty sure the 5-5 didn't run, and there was a short 2-5 list.

On Saturday, the room was similarly busy, though the 5-5 game was going at night. Around 11:00 there were six 1-2 NL games and a few 2-4 games. All in all, I ended up winning on the trip, so I was happy.

The room seemed fairly well run both nights. I had to make it a point to swipe in and out for comps (they didn't ask if I had a card), which isn't a big deal. I actually think I got the credit this time as well (I played there in November when the new system began and still haven't received credit despite many emails to Total Rewards & two emails promising they would give me the credits). I also talked to a guy at my 1-2 NL table who had a similar problem.

I agree with previous posters - The comp system has to be fixed or it's going to hurt the room, especially when players can easily go to Harrah's or Caesars. I know $1 an hour isn't much, but people don't like the idea that they are getting ripped off or not being given their credits.

The high bad beat jackpot also seemed to help - people were constantly talking about it when I was playing.

Overall, I had a very nice time and I will definitely play there again. I think the room has great dealers and it's a pleasant place to play. Many of the dealers were aggressive in promoting the no profanity rules, which I welcome.

My biggest criticism is the difficulties with comps and the fact that floor people don't ask you for your card. I can understand if the room is hugely busy with cash games and tournaments, but both times I played Saturday the room wasn't terribly overwhelmed and the person seating me still failed to ask me for my card even though he didn't seem busy.

Glad to hear you had a good time at the Boat! We always try to do our best to make sure that everyone has a good time. As Rod pointed out, the comp system is getting fixed as we speak. Not sure what happened, but I do know it has something to do with the way Total Rewards input the numbers into the computer. Not making an excuse for the room, but at least this one seems to be not our fault! lol

Update:

Well all, looks like we have some good things coming on the horizon. I had a meeting yesterday with upper management and they are listening. Lots of good things are going to be happening very soon.

1.) Higher Buy-In tournaments.. these are pretty much definite now and will be seen in our room within a month or so. They will be on Friday and Saturday nights. Preliminary amounts look to be in the $150-$200 range for the buy-ins.

2.) Pot Limit Omaha tournament. They are working on getting the specs for this now too. This one will most likely not happen for a few months, but at least it is something to look forward to.

3.) Training for the table games managers/dual rates. I know a lot of you had issues about some of the managers/dual rates that came into our room after the transition into Table Games. There will be training sessions in the next few weeks for them to make sure they are knowledgeable about all the floor calls and the needs of our customers.

4.) Comps. The comp system is being fixed as I type and should be accurate very soon. Hopefully this is one of the issues that gets resolved first.

5.) Promotions. This is on the horizon, but for now, they will be concentrating on the first 4 issues I posted. They will consider other promotions in the future (possibly the spring or summer from what I am told..)

So it looks like a lot of your issues are being addressed and corrected. Thank you all for your input and keep it coming. Between Rod and I, we want to make this the best room in AC.

I was there a few weeks back and actually "met" the first unfriendly dealer I encountered at the boat. Indian guy. Was a real sour puss.

UNACCEPTABLE. Would have trekked right on over to the Borg. They need to address this.

I dont think we have an Indian dealer, musta snuck in...

We can't address the list problem that is a clear case of the company as a whole not allowing anyone to get hired. This is not the poker rooms fault by any means. We have lost 10 dealers (at least for a # of reasons) and they wont let us hire any new ones.

I am pretty sure he's referring to peejay... Not my favorite guy (don't run so well when he's in the box) in the house, but he's def not a BAD or inefficient dealer, And I don't really see him as a sourpuss/malcontent... And I have definitely been in the room enough time to play w/ every dealer there a multitude of times, as I'm sure the mikes can attest to...

I'm comin down on Saturday. Do you think the frigid weather will have an impact on traffic? Will it be overcome by the holiday weekend and BBJ?
01-14-2009 , 07:30 PM
I would not want to be walking the boardwalk this weekend. However, holiday weekends are usually good for AC. I do not see the weather stopping people from coming down.
