What can you guys tell me about the bigger games at Bay 101 and M8trix? Thinking of heading down tomorrow and taking a shot at 5/5/10, maybe even 10/20 if it's really good.

Do you have experience in a casino environment?... I work at Bay101 BTW.
They need a tourney director, they have 3-4 and one spot is available now.

Bay101 has 8/16 witg a half kill.
M8trix might have it too.
Lucky Chances say they have 9/18 but I've never seen it running.

Given tge number of multimillion dollar homes in Oakland, do you mean the Oaks is snooty and upscale?

Or is the subtext that what you know of Oakland is what you hear of Oakland in the news? Oakland's nothing to brag about but if you think Emeryville is any better you just watch too much TV. You realize there's a sewage facility in Emeryville which vents its tanks at night, right?

That had nothing to do with the poker side, aside from one poker dealer dealing E. The Asian game side has its own dealers, own jackpots, own board, and own management.

It's no different than Bay101.
what in gods name are you talking about? pls tell me your kidding about oakland being snooty and upscale

I will be up for work a couple times in March and April and was wondering what would be my best option for 20/40+LHE and/or 5/5+PLO closest to downtown.
Thanks

Options are thin. I don't know if there are any PLO games, much less 5/5.

Bay 101 spreads 20/40, 40/80, 80/160 with regularity and 200/400 once in a blue moon.

Oaks spreads 30/60. Oaks is closer to SF downtown but Bay 101 is nicer and has more options.

There's an Oaks-specific thread in the M&B forum too.

Has anyone played at the Livermore Casino in the last year? If so, have the tournaments gotten any better?

I used to play here quite a bit but stopped for a couple reason.s:
1. I am not that good at Limit hold em, dont understand a lot of the nuances to be good.
2. The tournaments are sort of a joke. The blinds go up so fast and the prize pool is so janky, paying for the add on almost doesnt make sense.

I have actually done fairly well int heir tournaments. Played about 10 or so, winning 2, cashing in a 3rd and bubbling 5 and going out early in 2. The problem is, if you dont get those chips early or get lucky down the stretch, you are in for a world of hurt. Players are not all that skilled here, but you still have to rely on "luck" more so than in bigger tournaments.

So, again the question is: Anyone play here? Specifically in last year. And if so, how are the tournaments anymore? (I am thinking of heading over on Sunday for the first time in a year to this location)

Never played at Livermore, but Cal Grand is like 20-25 minutes driving and Oaks/Bay101/Matrix 30-45.

Just heard that Lucky Chances got approval to spread PLO. One of the players is trying to spearhead this, perhaps on Thursday nites. He is thinking about getting them to spread it as 5/5 PLO, and perhaps running it first as a half/half PLO/hold 'em game to get some of the hold 'em regs to try out PLO. Of course, this is all very much up in the air.

Figured some of the PLO'ers ITT might be interested, will post more details when I find out more.

Does Oaks plan to do true NL? I know they're not currently licensed to do so. But do they even want to?

Thanks for keeping us posted. I'm very interested in this game if they get it going.

It's not mereky a question of licensing; the city of Emeryville has an ordinance setting the maximum legal bet size. Given the hoops that Lucky Chances wound up having to jump through with a basicalky cooperative city government, I'm not holding my breath.

LC was up against an interpretation of a (since superceded) state regulation (enforced at the insistence of Artichoke's)

A better parallel would be San Jose's move to NL. If Emeryville wants it, they can okay NL.
