its not like its going to cost the casino a lot of money to have more dealers available, I'm sure the average dealer makes less then minimum wage

I can't imagine you're not new to live poker, or you've played at many reasonable sized rooms. As far as I can tell, waiting lists at certain times are pretty standard. Horseshoe Chicago regularly has decent waits on off times or busy times, and its a 30+ table room.

it's not as simple as just adding more dealers. if you schedule too many dealers, they end up sitting in the break room not making tips. that's wasteful for the casino and really annoying for the dealers.

and yeah, a wait list in the teens is NBD

Most I've waited was 30 min at poto after calling ahead, and that was on a new year's eve. I've played in vegas and florida, pretty standard wherever I've gone, but I haven't been to too many rooms.

Honestly, shoe hammond opens tables pretty quickly, and if they dont have dealers there, they either call them and ask them to come to work early, or the floor people deal in their place for a while until a dealer comes to releive them.

Yes, usually at places like poto with Call ins tge lists are very deceiving, so that is an obvious reason why games dont open there. Also, if there r 9-10 people on a lists, slower rooms are not quik to open a new game becasue as players bust they are left with a bunh of short handed tables and nitty players bitcshing. They would rather wait for 20 players to ensure everyone is "happy" in their eyes. The only exception to this i have seen is at shoe hammond cause they kno players will keep coming in and people there would rather play short then not at all generally

if its just 1/2 hour that's not too bad, I'm a little confused though at some of the posters thinking that 18 people is standard or something, they probably haven't left Wisconsin that much.

You're not comprehending that probably 90% of them are call ins. Believe it or not but sometimes people call in but decide not to go. I called in last night and there were at least 20 people in front of me but by the time I got there I waited 5 mins and thats unusual to wait that long but its friday night.

Check it out. If you don't like it, at least you tried something new.

You're putting way too much emphasis on a deceiving number (18). There could be 4 tables of $1/3 going and 18 players on the waiting list (all call-ins), yet all tables are 7-8 handed meaning you get a seat immediately once you show up.

Call in ahead of time and if you have to wait when you get there, give them your cell number and they'll text you when your seat opens. I don't even call in half the time and never have to wait very long unless it's Friday night.

Agree with others. Every time I've gone to Poto, the wait list has been long but mostly call ins. Usually only 5 or 6 real people in front of me.

Already 3 $1/3 tables with a 28 person wait list, I'd guess busy tonight.

By the way today I just got the best casino offer I've ever received from Poto. It's a postcard labelled "The 12 days of Christmas" and it's worth $50 Reward Play for 11 days and if I visit 11 days it's worth $500 Reward Play on the 12th day for a total value of $1050. Worth checking your mail for this one.

What ever happened to the 2/5 formally 3/5 NLHE games?

I've been playing at Poto on and off for about 3 years and there always use to be multiple 3/5 games on the weekend and sometimes 2 tables on weekdays. Now between the website I sometimes check and playing there I've noticed some weekdays do not even have 2/5 running and normally only 1 table on Saturdays, sometimes two on Fridays.

Are the 1/3 games really that good compared to 2/5? I've always liked the 2/5 because of the added aggression although there are some good aggressive players there are plenty of bad ones and the 2/5 game is more fun. When I feel like at 1/3 it's a lot more to do with value betting loose passive players and occasional bluff which can make the game pretty boring.

So I'm just looking to get input from other players on what games they like to play and why?

$2/5 is $200-$1000 buy-in now so who knows what that will do to the game.

When did $2-5 bump max from $600 to $1,000? Was just there Friday and it was still 600-must've been 12/1/14.

Don't think it will help the game - maybe pull a player or two from the higher PLO games.

2-5 has been pretty dead on Fridays last month or so. Obv 1-3 contributing and also some of the not so good regs might be busto.

Yeah it changed Monday. When I was taking my $1/3 seat the guy was going to $2/5 and asked the dealer what the buy-in was. When the dealer said $200-$1000 I thought he was talking about the $1/2-5 PLO round by round (which IS $200-$1000) so I asked dealer when I sat down "They changed the $2/5 NLHE buy-in?" and he replied, "Yep today. And in the bigger games ($5/10 NLHE, not sure of others) you can buy in up to the big stack."

For those wondering what the $1,000 max will do for the 2-5 game, I didn't notice any difference early yesterday afternoon. Me and two other guys bought in for the max. Everyone else bought $300. Played like a 1-2 game. Lots of limpers, very little pre-flop raising except for hands opened by me or those other two guys. Just one table between noon and 2pm.

I'd guess that the game will play a lot bigger Friday nights, but on Saturday afternoon, this was a soft, easy-to-beat, low variance game.

Heres a tip. Buy in for 300 and get 2 extra black chips. Switch tables and add the black chips.

I agree I wish every game was no max or buy up to the biggest stack but its not so you have to get creative.
