Got an email from one of the NH charity poker rooms a week or two ago stating there's a bill pending that would allow NL cash games, given that no single blind or ante was > $4. It asked the recipient to contact legislators, but I'm in MA. I think this would be a welcome development. If anyone knows if or when it's going to get a vote I'd love to hear about it.

House Bill 169 allowing table stakes poker is up for public hearing on Tuesday 4/14 at 9:30 in Room 103 of the State House. Senate Ways and Means.

The contact information for the Committee members are below.

These state lawmakers need to hear from past, present and future charities participating in charitable gaming both before and at the hearing.

Representatives from NH charities are needed to also testify in support of this bill as it will aid in increasing revenues for charitable gaming and also minimizing the blow to NH charitable gaming when casinos open in MA.

This bill will allow "table stakes" games in our cash poker area...which is the game the majority of charitable gaming participants that participate in our cash-games want to play.

If you cannot attend, please send email of support for this bill to all of the committee members listed below.

Charitable gaming participants....please email the members below in support of this Bill as well. This will bring the game you all want to play to NH. Please help educate our politicians in the popularity of a table stakes game, why it would be good for charitable gaming and the type of risk MA casinos pose to NH charitable gaming withour passage of this Bill.

So $150 does that mean max buyin? That's pretty terrible for $1/$2 cash. I guess it makes the game marginally playable compared to what they have, but certainly can't complete with Mass.

NH rooms could have this up and running in a day if passed. I'll be playing at the Wynn when it opens but that's 2018 at best. $150 ain't perfect but it's a start.

Heh, I read this and thought, "I might take a trip up there; try to get hired; cold deck/deal the bbj, since I have zero faith in any 'surveillance' in that room; then get back on the plane and come home."

Then I remembered I'm an honest man.

The foxwoods ceo just emailed me asking for my support

>>Senate Bill 1090 is legislation that will allow Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun to partner together to build up to three more casinos in Connecticut. The addition of these properties will allow us to keep thousands of jobs in the State; as well as, provide our guests with world-class gaming, dining, and entertainment amenities in the most convenient locations.

"Massachusetts has declared war on us and we are going to fight back ... This is our clarion call. We’re going to fight for jobs in eastern Connecticut." -Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff

i am for a casino on every block if it keeps tolls off the 95.

the state budget deficit plus prospects of another ~$100-200m in lost casino revenue per year is making this a necessity for the state to get done.

It looks like it passed a committee vote to "Rerefer to committee" - doesn't look to me like it has passed overall. But I am no expert on the NH legislative system and I hope I'm wrong.

https://legiscan.com/NH/rollcall/HB169/id/442255

Edited to add -- from the NH Senate Rules (source: http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/Sena...nate_rules.pdf)

4-2 Committee Reports - All bills and resolutions in the possession of committees shall be
reported out with one of the following recommendations: ought to pass, ought to pass with
amendment, rerefer to committee, inexpedient to legislate, or refer for interim study.
Rerefer to committee shall be a committee report only in the first year session and all such
rereferred bills or resolutions shall be acted on by the fourth legislative day of the second
year session. Refer for interim study shall be a committee report only in the second year
session.

So it basically sounds like the committee did not explicitly recommend the passage of the bill. I don't really understand the first year - second year session stuff but this strikes me as a delay tactic such that the bill won't have to be taken up by the Senate as a whole for a while.

City of Brockton, MA votes on casino today. Thinking it will pass, though the MGC will probably quash it.

Award of a license in a region not a given, though the community vote is a precursor to it. MGC has been a little iffy on awarding in the area given the possibility of an Indian gaming facility in the future.

Also it will be on top of the high school and access from Belmont Street/Forest Ave/West Street will be a traffic nightmare. Can't see any of them handling the traffic. Widening the streets or making a flyover is not going to happen.

As if a chemical dump in Everett or the oh so beautiful West Springfield are the Gardens of Eden. And for some strange reason Weston, Wellesley, Newton and Brookline didn't offer to bring a casino to their town.

The South Shore casino is going in Brockton, Fall River, Taunton or New Bedford. None are the best places to live in the state which may be the reason developers have chosen these places, and the population has agreed to host them. I personally could care less where it goes, though Brockton would be closest, but a casino is never getting built in an upper middle class or higher community.
