I can think of 5 or 6 clowns that will surely be playing these games and will surely go broke in no time. The limit games and tournaments are perfect for these folks as it prevents them busting or even having a bankroll. Once all of them are back to tournaments only and given there's going to be competition from other rooms, it remains to be seen how good it's going to be.
I dealt there for about 3 years. Last year of Dan Brown first 2 years of Ed Callahan. I really enjoyed my time there and the people I worked with. I was not one of the chosen who got to deal tournaments often so it was hour after hour of 2-4 and 4-4 limit.
Sustainability was one of the dynamics of the room I always tried to figure out. They have great tournaments structures and usually had really good numbers for the daily tournaments. The problem I always saw was when someone gets knocked out of the tourneys they didn't have the option of playing nl cash, so it was wait for the next tourney, sign up for a sit n go, bet the ponies or go home, With 1-2 no limit they should have a built in customer base of tourney players that now will play cash until the next tourney start, or try to play tight nl cash like they do in the tournaments to try to freeroll tourneys added to the number of new players coming that have wanted for cash for years. I think to start you'll see crazy action.
I think you will see a large drop in the number of sit in goes.
I never understood how they kept the amount of limit poker going! It was the same players day after day, week after week. The usual table at 2-4 most hands were capped at $8 with 9 callers. Flop would be 3 8 K rainbow capped again at $8 with 6 callers and would continue with no fold em hold em. Rake was $7 at the time, and I just wasn't beatable, but the players loved it, or should I say loved being miserable at it hour after hour.
I hope to get up there at some point and would expect to see a lot of familiar faces both at the tables, in the box, and flooring.
Does anyone know it the dealers keep their own tips by now? The was one thing I did not like about the room. The quality of dealers really improves when they can keep their own.
