Johnny,

Could you please remind tournament dealers about this recommended procedure? It is frequently missed.

RP-7. Timing of Dealer Pushes
The TDA recommends that dealers hold up the push 90 seconds prior to a scheduled break or a level change. This avoids having time expire in crucial stages of the game

Probably due to the holiday but giving credit to the wait staff on Sunday- they came by every 30 minutes and had waters ready for players.

Hope this isn’t an one off.

So, you are saying that they did their jobs correctly for a change.

Right?

Apparently, opinions about MGM's poker comps are consistent across the USA.

After seeing the number of posts on the water fountain situation and after complaining to a few floor personnel, I decided let me try something different. Bumped into a guy wearing a “Facilities” shirt.

Told him the issue, he said he will talk to his supervisor and see what he can do. Fingers crossed!

The lines at the cages are sooo tilting... I tried to cash out last night at 9pm and the line was crazy long at the poker room.. So, I went downstairs and found another long line at the cage. I ended up just leaving with my chips and putting them in my glove box. A bit annoying

Constant problem at MGM since day one: long lines at the cages during peak hours. Not sure Johnny can do anything about it himself; also not sure the casino minds patrons having a disincentive to cashing out chips.

Yep exactly. You now are guaranteed to return with money that is only good at MGM. Next time you are on the fence about going to MGM or another property, you will be going to MGM.

If casinos had it their way, cage iwould be where you buy chips and there is no where to sell back chips except the slots and table games. Hehe

And last night was incredibly awful again with regards to drink service. Shameful how poorly they staff the room during peak hours.

Last week, tired of waiting forever for a server to even glance in my table's direction, I was able to obtain two small bottles of water from the bartender in exchange for a $1 tip - I had watched another player do the same. Was the bartender not supposed to do this?

I miss the self-serve coffee from the old room.

Seems like a no-brainer to recruit a few more servers - more drinks for players, more tips, more drink sales for the casino... what's going on here?

Big-MGM is in the process of cutting a lot of jobs and they have been instituting their Profit Growth Plan for the last few years. They are not in the business of hiring employees in situations like this. I believe it was 250+ managers/employees let go company wide this week and that is only the first stage of the employee layoffs - believe on the earnings call they said 3% of the company is going to be laid off. I think they have committed to shareholders to save $200M from this in the next couple of years as part of their plan to invest in the Japanese market.

So hiring employees to bring us more waters or cash out our chips a few minutes faster - thats just not happening.

For the most part this has been an issue since the room first opened - the original room. Nothing has been done about it - and its not going to happen now.

Dispute at 2/5 table --floor called.

I was walking by a 2/5 table on Sunday afternoon and saw an argument and questionable call from the floor. The board was A74 rainbow with a middle size pot and about 350 effective remaining. Older Asian guy had a stack of green chips that he held in his hand above the felt. He moved forward with the stack in his hand above the felt but then pulled the bet back and placed the chips back in his stack. The move may have been an angle to get a read on his opponent. The "victim" of the move was a late 20/ early 30s mid-stakes regular. The victim had AK and said that the forward motion was a bet. Asian guy and some others at the table said that MGM does not have a betting line and the fact the money did not touch the felt meant the forward motion was not a bet. The floor was called and then the floor not knowing which way to rule actually called the shift manager in charge. For now I will not say which way the shift manager ruled. Wondering what you guys think the MGM National Harbor rule is in this situation. There was lot of heated argument with both sides claiming to know the correct rule.

I think that should be a bet. Any forward action deemed significant should be a bet. I know a lot of players that do that and then do the whole “I was joking bit.”

It happened in a table I was in and it was ruled not a bet. Liine doesn't matter, chips must touch felt.

Whether that's the best policy, I don't know. Always important for players to confirm that their opponent called.

I'm pretty sure that Johnny had said it is chips touching the felt.

Sometimes I get pre-game nerves and accompanying stomach problems. This means I need to use the bathrooms at MGM (as much as I hate doing this anywhere but at home).

Last night the bathrooms were unusable. Single-user restroom had no toilet paper and the one available stall in the men’s room was filthy. For the love of God let us poop in peace! I hate to be melodramatic, but this is a borderline human rights issue.

Pretty pathetic that MGMNH can’t do bathrooms as well as MD Live, whose restrooms are always IMPECCABLY SPOTLESS AND WELL SERVICED.

Apart from the good action, is there anything this room is doing well right now?

One difference is the ability of the poker management to even participate in the discussion. Live had a problem for a bit with cleaning staff hovering with paper towels begging for tips instead of cleaning.i complained and a supervisor immediately went to talk to the cleaning people. The problem diminished immediately. They would still look for tips but they also cleaned the bathroom after that.

I had the same experience at MGM and was told that it’s a different department and they aren’t able to do much. I think they have enough staff but the trolling for tips really slows down the cleaning.

I think the performance of the floors has improved over time. They started with a lot of people who learned bad habits from other places, but new hires seem consistently good. At the back podium they used to be busy socializing and wouldn’t fill seats. Now some days that’s still a problem but other times the service is top notch. Several of the original people would allow misbehaving regs to walk all over them but now that’s much less common.

I have no problems with the staff that are there on a daily basis. Dealers, floor, brush are all awesome for the most part.

The overall operations of the room is what has become an issue. Shortage of cashiers/cocktail waitresses. Not allowing outside beverages. Cleanliness. Comp system. All of these issues could and should be improved. Unfortunately I think MGM corporate is holding back the room from being an excellent room rather than a good one.
