bad beat jackpot is currently at 180K, you must lose with quad 6s or better. also, at the end of every month they give away free seats to the last saturday of the month $500 tournament. drawings are every 6 hours. a random table is picked, then players draw for high card. my table got picked sunday morning and i lost with the king of spades.

The Shoe should start giving away $5000 seats for the Chicago Poker Classic soon.

I did a few hours there tonight playing 1-2 NL

I thought I played pretty well with the garbage I got dealt for the first 2/3 of the session. During this time playing solid seemed to lose me money and making questionable moves ended up paying off.

I bought in for 100, lost it bought in for another hundred and ended up cashing out 400.

There were a decent amount of people there for a monday night but I was sorta put off by the amount of people who wandered away from the table. I dont expect to have a full ring there all night, especially around dinner time, but there were times around 8 o clock where 2-4 members of the table just sorta disappeared and wandered around. A couple of them actually happened to be bigger stacks so there was a lot of money sorta pooled up at spots at the table.

Overall a fun night though. Will def be spending a bit more time there this semester.

How is are the Mixed games going there?

Looking for like 10-20 HORSE if possible...or a house mix WITH Razz included.

As far as the 5-10....well its been a long time since I sat in it...I would def say its a lot harder than say the 5-10 at the Wynn or just in Vegas in general.

A lot of it depends on the lineup from what ive seen/heard. If you sit with 8 regs it isnt a great game, but if two of the juicier 2-5 regs(you probably know whom im referring to) jump up...it instantly becomes a decent value.

AGAIN...Ive only played 5-10 a handful of times....just going by what I see and conversations with a couple regs im acquainted with.

Main event is a $3000+125 event.. so hopefully they give away a few more seats. Sick thing is every nightly tourney that they're running during the CPC they will be adding a Main event seat to the prize pool. (100+20+10 tourney every night at 7pm)

I played in another one of these in November. The structure is fast as ****, and you get no value on your entry. It is a true charity tournament. Fast and Furious. Blinds double every 10-15 minutes and the dealers are not always poker dealers from the shoe.

Just my thought, if you want to play poker do not play in these type of events.

for the experienced players that have played all over america...how does the shoe compare to most other casinos level of play?? Ive always wondered because I recently turned 22 so my live experience is limited to the shoe and some 1/2 2/5 and 5/10 charitable games.

also...how is the 5/10 game? thinking about maybe taking a shot soon.

Where would you recommend staying? I have heard that quality inn, motel 8 and ramada are close. Anything else a bit nicer w/in 10-15 minutes of the casino? Do they all offer a poker rate?

I think the Ramada offers discounts to Horseshoe customers. Call the poker room to make sure. I have never stayed in the three that you posted but have heard that they are not that bad. The better places to stay are downtown Chicago. If you are coming to town strictly for poker than the three you posted is your best bet.

If you look at old posts there use to be weekly updates of what stakes and how many tables were running. Anyway to continue getting these updates from someone on staff or an avid 2+2/reg at the Hammond.
