There are no plans to change the starting chips stacks at this time, although this is something we review from time to time.

The room in Cherokee is a WSOP sponsored room so I doubt WPT will be coming IMO. I hope the WSOPC does...Cherokee would have to draw more than Southern Indiana.

From what I've been told by the poker room only the big games will have live dealers (2/5 NL+ and PLO). 1/2 will still use the POKER PRO tables.

If Cherokee gets a Circuit Event, I'd say it'd be a minimum of 2 years.

I would expect something similar to this. Also, don't expect live dealers when the new poker room opens on June 19th. It will happen, but there are no firm dates at this time.

We will initially have 15 PokerPro tables in the new room. At some point we should add approximately 4 live tables to the mix in addition to the others.

Seriously? WTF? Get the live dealers bill passed and you're going to have 15 electronic tables. What a joke!! Laughable...

I will continue going to driving 4.5hrs to Horseshoe Indiana and Mardi Gras in WV.

IMO the four live tables will be 2/5 NL, PLO, and Limit (probably 5/10 or 10/20).

Personally figure 4 tables at the very beginning is more than fair. They've got a large investment tied into the pokertek tables and its logical to use them for 1/2NL and 3/6limit at the beginning. Going from an all-electronic floor to an all-dealer floor would probably be pretty chaotic anyways, considering there probably aren't a lot of trained dealers in the hills of NC. I can live w/o the dealer mistakes. There's also likely a contract with Pokertek for licensing and support (i don't know for sure, but it seems safe to assume), and i doubt they're just gonna waste that time/money to go to live tables.

I'm just happy to see it happen, because it means other live games will likely come to the casino soon, and that's never a bad thing for the poker players.

I'm re-posting my question because I'm trying to decide if I want go in the morning:

Anyone know how many the Saturday morning tourney usually draws? What does the winner usually take home?

I would expect between 50 and 60 participants this weekend. As we get further into the summer, expect that number to rise significantly.

Anthony, are there any promotions or anything special on the 19th or any time after that might attract more casino guests to check out the new poker room?

I know there aren't ever any poker related promotions, but it seems like the traffic in and around the poker room might decrease a little when it moves upstairs.

I would recommend making the tournament schedule link more obvious, or even listing the tournament times on the website, instead of in a PDF. The link is pretty small and right under the PokerPro banner, so it is a little hard to see if you're not looking for it pretty hard imo.

Another recommendation would be to say something along the lines of "Play against other players!" or "Play against other players, not the casino!".

I like this idea, but I'm not sure it would be allowed, or if it would even make a difference.

The poker site in general looks pretty plain and boring and wouldn't make me want to play poker. Perhaps add a picture of players at the table?

The first poker room website I pulled up had this picture on it

That picture makes me want to go to that poker room and play poker...

Obviously you can't use that picture because of the actual chips and cards in it (for now anyways), but really a picture of anything poker related would be an improvement imo.

Live poker is coming to Harrah's Cherokee Smoky Mountain Casino. Don't get too excited. It is going to be a gradual process. Remember, in the casino world, poker doesn't get much love.

Live poker is going to evolve. Mistakes will be made. Changes will be made. Give it time.

PokerTek is not going anywhere anytime soon. Soon to be 15 PokerTek tables. This will make it easier to get a seat during the busiest times. PokerTek is the poker bread and butter right now. For you lovers of PokerTek, Harrah's loves PokerTek just as much as you and for all of the same reasons. It has been thrust upon us and we like it.

It would be nice if there was a way to entice fish into the shark pool.

Don't forget:

Tournament this morning.

Big PLO game this afternoon.

Maybe a 2-5 game if we are lucky.

Live Poker starting at 2/5 NL will entice fish into the shark pool.

Thought I would let you guys know first. You should expect a 2-3 hour outage in the poker room on the morning of June 19th. This is of course associated with the move upstairs.

I love when people post in threads that they don't read.

On a side note, last Saturday I was looking forward to playing 2/5, but the game never got going. Hopefully, next time I'm in Cherokee the new room, or the possibility of live cards, will entice people to play 2/5

To my knowledge, no promotions are scheduled at this time.

I think I can alleviate those fears. One of the main entrances (the valet entrance) will be located just outside the poker room, so the room will be in full view to anyone coming in that way. Also, it will be easier to get to the poker room now from the garage or hotel than before. It will on the same level and accessible from the same walkways that are in use for the buffet and hotel. In other words, most of you won't have to take an escalator or steps to get to the poker room.

We are working on improvements. I will see if any of these ideas can be implemented.
