i remeber the day after xmas last year they had the 180 11am going on or whatever....205 people. the 400 yesterday, i think only got about 60.
Seriously? Geez, that means the prizepool in the cheaper game was about 10K more, plus the House got double the rake. They seriously need better accountants (and I need a job ).

They really should mix their holiday games up, $150-$300 and I'd show up almost every time. But $400 is where it starts to get too steep. Besides, isn't their biggest demographic college-aged and 20-something-year-olds who don't have that much money in the first place? Yeah, stay expensive, especially with Mohegan catching up with you fast, smart move Foxwoods.

Anyway, that aside, I'm hoping to get in for one of the 11:00 AM tournies this week before New Years, so I'll probably see you guys there.

The PLO/PLO8 under the arch? When did you leave? I was at the 1/2NL table right beside it, a woman at the table kept trying to get me to join when she overheard me comment that it sounds like a good game or similar.
left around 530PM, i know who you're talking about, she was sitting next to a big dude who lost his whole 250 dollar buy in during the first 10 minutes at the table. it was a lot of fun, i suck at hi lo though, not gonna lie.

LA based regular poster here and need quick help (I'm using dial-up on an old machine I just rebuilt at my Mom's in Rhode Island and don't have time to wait for the Acrobat Reader to download so I can read the .pdf schedule).

Any tournaments today (Monday, December 28th)?

If there's an early day tournament about what time is the final table? (Driving my elderly Mom who will be playing bingo and can't stay much past 4:00 pm)

Also is PLO likely to be going early in the morning?

If anyone cares I'm the creepy old guy.

Hey Rick,

The 11am $120 and the 1pm $80 bounty will both run til 5-6pm..... But the best tournament of the day (even the best of the week) is the 6pm $230 with a guarantee of $20,000 usually runs around 100+ players and finishes between 130-3 am depends on any chop made by those who are left.....

Dont think any PLO will run that early (maybe later) there will be a 4/8 limit O with a half kill

Sometimes they have a 20/40 OE

Thanks for the info. As it turned out Mom chased me off the computer shortly after my post; I was her driver for Foxwoods bingo/slots. Got there around 10:00 am. Spent an hour fast walking off a weeks worth of holiday meals then played the 11:00 am $120 tournament (and luck-boxed my way to 5/136 for $930 cash ).

Have a bunch of observations about Foxwoods v LA poker I'll try to find time to post about when I get back. Saw two floor decisions that were definitely post-worthy.

~ Rick

PS Mom guided me on a "secret" back-roads route through western Rhode Island coming into Foxwoods from the north. Nice scenic route and five minutes shorter that anything involving rt 1, rt 95 or rt 138 (she lives in Middletown, RI). We have side bet regarding how "secret" this is; told her someone probably already posted about it here but with dial-up it's too painful to surf to confirm.

PPS Before hitting up California Pizza Kitchen post tournament quick scouted the small (I think 3-6 blind) PLO. About 6 handed at 5:30 pm.

Could you discuss the difference between taking rake vs charging time?

Back roads to FW are scenic although less safe in the slippery winter. CPK, of course!

I was up there last couple days playing in the 5/10 NLHE games but did manage to play in some $120 PLO tournament on Sunday at 1pm since I wanted to take a break. Heard it was its first one. They only got about 30 people but the structure was decent, maybe they will get more people next time.

just a quick questions for the regular. Will there be 20/40 LHE game going in a few days? And also how would u compare it to online game?

the 20/40 is supposedly soft/loseaggro so i think it would be +EV playing if your rolled for it, maybe find a juicy weekend around new years and people will be blowing through racks

I played in the $120 PLO tourney on Sunday. It was fun, but I've never seen so much arguing with the dealers and floor people. Probably only 10-15 hands/hr, because it took forever to get a ruling on how much a "pot" bet was. Lots of arguing/yelling/discussing on every single hand.

Then the blinds would go up. And everyone (players, dealers, floor) are all confused again.

I'll be going this Saturday...only my 2nd time at Foxwoods. I'd rather not play the $400 tournament. Do the the SNGs happen regularly or is there a long wait?
Quote
12-29-2009 , 11:43 PM
Depends, I've noticed some SNGs take 15 minutes to fill, and some well over an hour. But since it's Saturday, it'll probably be faster than usual, you won't wait too long.

BTW, I'm going tomorrow, so I might see some of you there. Wish me luck even though I won't get it!

saturdays they will start filling up around 12-1PM. once they get going during the afternoon they should fill up regularly-please note, sometimes you have to wait for a dealer they are filling up so fast relative to what else is going on in the tournament area.

went yesterday....not a good day, donked 1-2NL with some bad play before the 11am 180....then got down to 40 out of a 100 (nice turnout)....started to get low, made a move and got crushed....oh well! it was busy though, lot of action

I was at FW yesterday and it was crazy busy. I haven't been in a while so I don't know what the norm is but man it was packed.

A 1/2 PLO game finally got going around 1pm. It was great except that the dealers had no idea had to calculate pot bets and raises so I ended up doing it for them. Not to be a nit but they really shouldn't spread it if they don't have dealers that can quickly and accurately calculate the pot. There were a few instances where arguments broke out about what amount a pot raise should be...usually with some momo with no clue how to play PL games objecting to one of my raises and then I would nearly have to take out a pen and paper to show them why they are ******ed. And the dealer would just sit there and not say anything because they are just as clueless.

Edit: Also some life nit/dbag insisted that at FW the opening pot raise is to $8 instead of $7 because they count the $1 small blind as $2?!?!? Anybody know 1) if this is true and 2) why in the world they would do this?

I'm shocked 1/2 PLO even got going to begin with... I don't think I've seen it running once.

I had 2 friends with me to help start the table but once we did it was full within a minute w/ a waiting list. Not sure how long it ran because I had to leave. But the action was amazing.

That's chill, so they will run a table if only 3 people are there? I'm def gonna try and get some PLO going next time I'm there.

I don't know if they will run with 3 people but once we got a dealer and chips sorted out it was 5 handed and we started. Then a few hands later the table was full. As soon as they announced it was running people came real quick. Just get them to list it and be persistent with announcements and opening the table once you have a few people on the list.

If they have the dealers on dead spreads, they will open almost any game, including heads up games

Only problem about heads up is that you can not legally bar anyone else from joining the games

PLO was awesome last saturday, great action, half the table doesn't know what their doing, the other half only knows how to play the "high" rotation as they do both a HI and a hi/lo spilt (ten hands each)

wish i just played cash all day instead of wasting time in the donkament.....

yes you are right mr. D, there is always arguing over the pot raises and amounts, i went through the same thing last weekend
