Frank,

Gambit's success looks like Santeria. Next time take your rosary.

4. Have a good story.
5. Get multiple denominations of Commerce chips.
6. Pay early out 401k taxes.
7. Pay quarterly gain taxes.
8. Replenish 401k.
9. Profit
10. Stay in LA for more than 5 days, because 5 isn't nearly enough, as you know.

I like where you're heads at! I know 5 days isn't enough but we're staying on the beach in Santa Monica and those prices are high enough to break the bank.

No, seriously, you should go to the Commerce. Do you play super super high stakes such that you need to worry about "some juicy cash games being played, but I question whether or not they'll be running at noon", or were you referring to juicy games to attract the celebs you want to stalk? There are plenty of games there at all hours of the day.

Definitely for stalking purposes. Having her with me we typically tend to splash around in some 3/6 LHE games so she doesn't get scared but since we're on vacation I don't think I will leave her be to go grind.

I guess I'm wondering if anyone's been to either a WPT/WSOP event and if there's entertaining things to do/see OR if the Commerce Casino is really worth experiencing since it's the "Worldest Largest Poker Casino", whatever that means. I lost my ass at the Bicycle when I was 19 years old (yeah, long story) but I definitely wasn't impressed enough with the room to make a stop to it while on vaca. I wonder if you get seats for the final table if you're required to sit there the whole time or if I'm dying of boredom after a half hour if I can just get up and leave.

There are only 2 guarantees in life....
Taxes and Death.
Have to make it a priority of course.
Enjoy the trip. Try some of the 40nl there. I hear it is a hoot.
How far are you from the pier? There is great people watching there... IDK if its open with all the extravagance, but I am sure it wouldn't be hard to find out.

I watched the final table of a HPT event. It was like watching white paint dry. If you do not have a dog in the fight there is not much to experience.

Commerce is huge but not particularly nice (even though floors wearing tuxedos lend a particular air of surrealism). I like playing there but only because it's such an oddly different experience from playing in Vegas or for that matter Detroit.

played at mcc and greektown on friday. pretty much had the god seat at mcc. table 9 seat 7 right across from the pizza giving me the ability to eat a slice in between hands if I wanted to without missing any of the action. mcc also had the most attractive cocktail waitress i've ever seen in detroit and i had a perfect view to watch her run drinks. table was probably your average 1/2 table.

mcc offers 100-300 plo which caught my eye but the floor said it never runs but was eager to inform me of their 15-30 rxr game on tuesday or whatever.

after a couple hours i racked up and went to greektown to meet up with a friend that was playing there. not a big fan of their room. they didn't have any 2/5 going which was surprising considering it was primetime friday night. although they did have two 3/6 lhe table which made me lol. never got settled in and switched tables a few times before donking off my chips and heading home. i think the parking garage put me on tilt of something.

Even though only one game was running, it was pretty juicy. After I stacked off on a 1082 flop where I 3bet pre to 65 with 77 and got two callers, I clawed my way back with some well timed aggression and hands. At one point there were 4 players at the table with 600+. Most pots were opened and people played wide ranges. I ended profiting +430.

I cant figure out why I drive to Nit Reg infested MCC when there are juicy games here. I guess I like to mix it up and not play vs the same people all the time.
i play at the berg often, we should meet up sometime.

So-so turnout for the first week, but some good action with a couple of players giving action with very light hands.
i was in the one seat and pretty much agree with your assessment. i won't be able to make it this week but hopefully they can keep it going. definitely a fun game.

Which one, Sunday? I took a break during the tournament and did it from Cadas. It is a good one with Derek "Killingbird" Tenbusch from Tournament Poker Edge. He is a Marine City native and CMU grad.

I used to be a part of him and his buddies private strategy forum. Before TPE, it was similar to 2+2 but less drama, more quality, less quantity. I grew up with one of the guys from there and TPE, Hagbard Celine. He was on my little league team. It would be nice to play with KB.

Event#5 made day 2 with 227k in chips. Pretty sure I'm top 5 in chips with 35 players left. We started the day with 530 players. With my 7th place finish and the 1st place finish in this ;-) I should be in great position to win the $50k Point Leader of the series.

not sure if this was posted, but the Electric Stick ran a 1-3 plo game Saturday night. I was too tilted to play, but it was there, full table too.

Mini TR: (Well we'll see if it's a mini when I'm done typing)

Went out to Snookers for the $30 7pm tourney. It had 81 runners and was paying $680 for first.

Made a bad read during the 2nd round. Called a river bet when the 3rd heart hit thinking he was repping the flush for 3k. Took me down to 4800. Shortly after I moved tables.

I get to the new table with 4200. Started picking up pots on the flop with cbets without any problems then this happened. Blinds are 200/400 and villain raises to 1200. I call from the CO with 66 and button calls. Flop is 743dd. Villain c-bets for 1200 as both of us call. River is another 4. Villain checks, I bet out for 3k which is half my stack. Button folds and villian calls. River is a deuce and villain tanks for a minute and looks like he's shoving and is real uncomfortable. Finally he checks and I check back. I take the pot as he had AK.

So after the hand he says, "If i shove do you fold?" which I responded "hell ya!". (setup)

About an orbit later I pick up 77 and call the same Villain's 1200 bet IP. Same type of flop 965r. He cbets as usual and I call. He checks the 3 on the turn and I bet out the same 3k as he calls. Turn is a 2 and he insta shoves for 7200. I tank for about a min and start counting out the call which was about a 1/3 of my stack and decide to call. He shows AT.

I win the next 4 hands with JJ, 76s, AK and ATs and have 45,100 at the break.

Not too much happens later. I lost a pot when we were down to 18 when I rr shoved top and bottom against middle pair and it goes DD for the flush for him which knocked me down to 10bbs. Lots of uncontested shoves later and we're at the FT and I have 7bb.

Pick up AA and KK and which really just keeps me at the 8-10bb for most of the FT. Then we are down to 3 and I 3bet AI with AKo and chip leader calls with A3 and I double up. I'm up to about 320k and 15k/30k blinds. I pick up T5s in the SB against the chip leader and raise to 75k. He calls and the flop is JTx. I shove and he snaps with QJ and I go home in 3rd for $280.

I'm tired. Should probably stick to tourneys but I know my dumb ass will go out to Snookers today for the free lunch.

2+2 mobile site really needs multi-quote feature.

Thanks for the heads up, boutrous. Glad to see Omaha showing up everywhere.
