To be honest, I'm not even sure why I read this thread any more. All my room rates are crazy and comps are all gone. You will likely never see me back at the Borgata.

To be fair, Vegas isn't looking much better. Much like the airlines, the loyalty programs (for poker at least) seem to be hot garbage now. Might as well just be a free agent again and stay wherever you want, stop being beholden to any one program.

I agree 100%.
I'm amazed at the room rates everywhere.
Even Harrah's (where I used to get cheaper rates & walk to Borgata) is now BOTH expensive & mediocre quality! I have no idea who is paying SO much for SO little.

At least Borgata has decent rooms....

But Philly Live & (to a lesser degree) Rivers Casino are better alternatives for me (I live in NYC without a car) for a day trip.

My borgata rates are garbage most nights. Forget weekends.
Harrah's my rates are ok s-thurs most weeks.

Oddly I've never given mgm action in the pits in at least a decade. I could never get comps in Vegas. Now at the lower properties I can some weeks.

The other MGM properties around the country finally have Bravo up and running so you can see the live games.

Looks like Borgata is the only room that still shows ZERO games. Why?

MGM detroit also. It should be back soon. A day or two ago Springfield and National Harbor still weren't showing on bravo.

Is there any info on the January series? Kinda wanna see schedule or get idea what it’s like with gtns and buy in levels to plan winter mtt vacations.

Like any guess- are they going to run like a $400/600 big gtn like past years or are they going up in buyins like fall series to lower #s I assume and make more in rake + offering kinda marginal structures

Has anyone gotten tier credits owed from the time everything was down yet?

I heard that comp dollars are now being transferred but I'm sure people are missing thousands of tier credits (depending on how many hours you play, of course).

I'm getting comped rooms again during the week... I generally just play 1/3 all day and sometimes play $100 on video poker, but not every trip.

Well to be fair Ive played about 200 hours total in the last 2 years at borgata. Although my rates really got bad a few months after they reopened late 2020.

I only get Sunday-Thursday night comped rooms anymore because of my slot play I've noticed. Most my friends that play 1/3-2/5NL when we visit don't get comped roomed anymore, unless they play table games/slots. Before MGM they would get at least Sunday-Thursday from poker play only.

Will be there for the opener event

I forgot to add that although MGM owned borgata pre COVID they didn't fully switch to the mlife system until 2021 (they even closed for a day or two to switch everything.)

Once that happened all my comps went to hell.

i'm shocked especially that it's 24 days. the old wpt were about 18-19 day series.
hopefully it goes smoothly.

I think new tournament director is smart and realized hungry demand from north east tournament poker players.

Agree with this- I feel there is pent up demand which is shown by tourny fields for other northeast venues that maybe got less players during the pre Covid times due to parx/ borgata being such a big draw for tourny play.

I hope the series goes smooth so they run tournies again. I loved their deep stack smaller buy in series bc they offered solid 1 day tournies for a smaller buyin $120-400 which is easy for
My bankroll. I honestly have worries they will run into trouble. I think it’s smart they raised buyins for some of the events to what I assume is keep player fields smaller. $800 opener was $600 in past and almighty is $500 instead of 400. I just hope they run a daily and nightly all mighty stack entry so 4 flights over 2 days. If I go there, I would rather play 4-5 flights if I have to Vs just 2.

From regs- I’ve heard they have dealer shortages. Idk I hope this series goes smooth but I’m guessing it’s going to be tough per what has happened at borgata in recent years. If it goes poorly, I could see them not offering tournies for more time which is bad for northeast tourny poker. I would much rather play some borgata festivals Vs going to vegas honestly. I like the northeast ha.

Returned from a couple of days playing at the Borgata. Heard some gossiping and maybe rumors of a couple problems. Thought I'd check in to see if there is any merit.

A. Dealer turned dual was stealing $1k chips in the high limit games. One of the dealers I always liked, hope it isn't true. When detected, rumor is they allowed it to continue to felony level before arrest.

B. Dealer turned dual was selling comps and/or tier points. Fired. Name/description didn't ring any bells. As the year end approaches, I wasn't sure if I was going to level up (I did thanks to 2nd Vegas trip). I would have checked with some of the friendly floors to see if there was anything they could do. I didn't have to, but apparently I wasn't the only one to think of that.

Trip report.... played AK a lot for big pots. Worked out mostly well. Except that hand where 22 made Quads.

High hand promos are certainly keeping the room busy. I wasn't good/lucky enough to collect any myself, but nice to see promo money being returned in a way I could theoretically collect.

This is very, unfortunately true. I don't know if it was 1k chips, but I do know he was caught, fired, and is being held to account by law enforcement. It really sucks because R was my favorite all time Borgata employee. I heard his wife is seriously ill, and that was his reasoning. I would've happily kicked in 1k myself to his gofundme. It really breaks my heart that we'll all never hear "Smaaaaaaal BIG" again. Guy is an absolute legend and a sweatheart and I hope they don't rake him over the coals. They should absolutely drop the charges.

I'm very sorry to get that confirmation. I have similar feelings.

His wife being really sick would make sense. Still a terrible idea made out of desperation I guess.
He was there when the poker room was where Amphora is now.

I liked him but really don't see how charges get dropped.

I know, what gets me is if anyone should know how easy it is to get caught, it's him. Not sure why or how he thought he could get away with it

Regardless of the reason, and the end result, it's just sad. As you said, he's as OG as OG gets. Hope he's doing ok

It is always sad to hear the dealer got into trouble, especially when his family is already in trouble...

Hi, any advise appreciated.

Wife hit the $1,000 high hand. What is the appropriate tip to the dealer? I think she tipped too much, but I could be wrong.

Also, is Borgata collecting extra bad beat money (now $2) during those high hand promotion?
