Hah, that reminds me, for some reason they have started mailing me offers for free flights to Borgata from...Scranton. It's 133 miles and 2.5 hours to drive to Scranton, then another however long to fly back to AC. Or I could drive straight to Borgata in 100 miles and 1:45 hours. Nice job, marketing.

This has always been the case and is widely accepted

I live 13 mins from borg. and I get 7 days a week. So this is obviously false

Based on what though? What some people in the poker room have said?

Do we really think that a casino isn't going to offer rooms to people who degen thousands away because they live only 25 miles up the GSP?

I doubt it's a hard rule like if you're within an X mile radius of Borgata you're not eligible for comp rooms, but it would make sense that it's a factor

It's going back a ways, but the previous poker manager said here in the Borg thread that room offers are NOT influenced by your home distance from the casino.

Yeah I guess, don't think we'll ever properly know without someone in the MLife analytics team telling us tbh.

I've heard it come out of the mouths of staff but that doesn't really mean much, I suppose.

I've always been told if you're close, you get more free play/slot play offers, and if you're further away, more hotel offers

If you play in the pit or 40/80 or above regularly you will get free rooms. If you play 2/5 ten weekends a year you probably won't. Remember after the transfer to MGM International they have been stingy with the rooms. This will not change in the foreseeable future. I know people that have been playing 20/40 for 5 years plus every weekend and don't get comped on Friday and Saturday nights.

From my own experience, as soon as I changed the license I had on file with Borgata from NJ to NY I went from no room offers to many room offers.

It's not the only factor, obviously, but it makes sense that distance would be a factor. I'm sure they've figured out the distance most people are willing to travel and not stay the night, beyond which people are less likely to come unless they have a room.

Never been to AC, I assume the 90s were the peak for AC poker?

I randomly thought about AC and I assumed now its a super super run down, barely active and very rough area. kind of ike a very sad atmopshere around the area assuming its not in the months of june - july - august.

I know all local states being able to have casinos destroyed the poker scene or the gambling scene in general at AC, but honestly, is there any way this area can go back to semi thriving? also was there too many casinos along each other the reason it declined majorly even before the 08 boom? the idea of legit like 6-7 casinos all lined up along one major walkway seems pretty organized and badass imo or atleast in my head

what can the area do to get it back to its glory days?

nothing it's done. even if it were well run it would never get close to the glory days. In those glory days there was almost no competition besides vegas.

glory days may be too strong or an impossible word to say. as poker "glory" days could mean many things to people?

I assume tho AC is still pretty popular destination in some summer months? i was shocked when the local pop is like 30k that's extremely low. For what its worth, it seems on most weekends hotel rooms are like 150 sometimes even 200 in summer months, thats higher than over half vegas strip casinos! lol

Bulldoze it into the ocean and cover it with sand? Would make a nice beach in the summer months.

I love AC and I didn't even get to experience the glory days I'm just a degen that's too lazy to get to Vegas.

But the city is not going to rebound in any way, it's going in the other direction. They've tried to clean up the boardwalk and in the summer between Ocean and Hard Rock it's sort of kind of an almost okay spot to hang out for an hour maybe. The casinos do nothing for the local economy so the city stays relatively impoverished and has issues with crime. There's not really other jobs and nobody is living in AC to commute somewhere else.

And most importantly, we're on the brink of NYC and potentially North Jersey casinos, once that happens AC loses a huge % of its customer base.

It all starts with a legit airport. It could be a summer south beach with casinos. Will never happen though.

woww never thought about the airport. even if it is a super small town like I was surprised to see when I looked up at population.

I also looked at random weekend dates for AC just curious to see at hotel prices, and it is absolutely insane that for 1 night, some of these hotels are close to 200 a night!!!!!! like I said before, its legit more than half the vegas strip casinos!! and its not like there is a shortage of hotel rooms on ac right?

$200 for a weekend night actually isnt bad, I have seen prices more than double that for a Fri or Sat night over the past few months

Surprised it's as little as $200 a night, usually close to last minute way more than that for any of the major hotels.

I was just assuming vegas strip hotels would be pricier on a weekend then AC but shows how little I know. its still insane that a place like ****ing AC has hotel rooms that are higher than 200 for a night. insane. what do I knwo tho.

I just checked my app and supposedly there is currently 19 tables fired up at borgata. what the ****? that's higher than I would ever guess

For a Saturday night, 19 tables doesn't sound good for Borgata.

One difference between AC and Vegas, I think, is that Vegas has vast numbers of hotel rooms altogether. It's a more popular destination, but still, it's supplied to an extent that AC isn't. (A spot Google suggests AC has 20k to Vegas' 150k.)

19 is nothing, surprised on a Saturday it is not easily double that, its always been way more than 19 when I've been, though I know Parx has been slowly taking over.
