Talking Stick is better than Gila River.

Gila river (Lone Butte) will take full rake pre flop. I.e. raise and 3-bet and fold will be subject to a full 4+2 rake/drop. Although, Talking Stick now drops $5+2 for a $60 pot. Not sure if Lone Butte does the same now as well.

TY PP.

My only concern is that now the pit gamblers will not pass by the poker room coming to and fro the casino. It may not register in their brain as an option.

Hey Pope, you were right not to want to play in a casino during the plague. Just got back from WSOP and people were pigs. Hacking wet bronchial coughs without covering their mouths. It was bad enough when people did that during normal times, but everyone should know better these days.

It has been the world series of COVID. Seen so many people getting it and posting on Twitter. And for every one I see, I assume there are hundreds that I didn't see, and many who either aren't testing, or tested positive and play anyways.

Got a ticket for the AZ state championship ($1100 day 1c, Sunday 7/10) if anyone wants it for $900. HMU, in the room all weekend.

The tents are opening soon? They already took out some of the TVs from the room

Dates are fluid, but I heard games move starting July 31/Aug1? Or maybe they close down July 31, reopen Aug 1 or 2nd? If you are there, ask someone.

I noticed some of the smaller tv's were already off the walls on Sunday.

Finally there will be good games at Lone Butte for 2 days! Excited to see what the new, temporary, room looks like.

Heard the current poker room is going to become half slots but they will be building a second story (or a basement)

And will it be physically cut off from the rest of the gambling pits?

I've heard the flat plaza/smoking area due west of the current indoor poker room will be the new permanent (ha!) home of the slightly larger poker room, once the book/pit is completed in the current indoor poker room. I expect they'll connect it to the main portion of the casino. The temp tent will be a bit of a hike to get to the pit games, was the impression I got when I eyeballed it last weekend.

If they don't put at least a craps table in the tent, they are leaving money on the table.

Played some 2/3 tonight in the new temporary home of poker at Talking Stick. So, yeah, if you park in either garage it is quite the hike to the poker desk to sign in. Much further than before, and some of it is outside/not covered.

Good news, though. There is parking (uncovered) literally right outside the main door to the temp tent. However, it was unused/blocked off. Not sure what the plan is there, didn't think to ask anyone. The tent ("tent") is really more of a temporary structure. Walls and roof appear to be solid. Inside, there are walls up, lighting overhead, but open to the tented roof (if you look closely, you can see it). For the most part, it seems as if you are in a very large room with a high ceiling. Floor is solid, carpeted, doesn't feel like raised floor. No air ducts/outlets in the floor over here.

Speaking of AC, it was more than sufficient in the late afternoon/evening. While waiting for a seat, I sat at a table near the podium and nearly froze, but only had to move across the table to get out of the direct blast from above. I'm still bringing layers, could get chilly.

Free soda, water, coffee near the main door. A nice bar/lounge with liquor, don't think there are any games in there, but didn't venture in. A pair of ATMs, cigarette vending, etc. Same bravo sign-in kiosks, same lists.

Restrooms are in the back corner, but I didn't feel the urge to go while I was there. I did not see the menu or order food.

No games or machines, no pit, no smoking, no firearms. Nothing keeping me from returning.

The old poker room (pre-2012 or so) was always called "the tent", but it was really a pretty solid structure for all I could tell and certainly didn't feel like a temporary structure when you were inside. Same for the old Hawaiian Gardens room.

I didn't know it was a tent until I read about it here.

I'm using "tent" to describe the shape more than the materials used.

Maybe one of the poker vloggers will come by and get some drone footage of the new structure?
